I have 1000's of LimeWire files and still run my favorite Lime version 4.14.something. It doesn't do P2P anymore, but you can read the file notes and sigs through Lime when you play or burn the files.
So mp3's and just some general files.

XP still will access files but no surfing, have to be able to access internet.

It was a damn nice unit at the time, looks like a server. Kind of.

I'm thinking it's worth upgrading. I put a cable wire where it will go. Have to finish garage floor with epoxy stone 1st, then everything can go to it's final position.

Kind of a junk jam holding me up till then. I guess a bigger hard drive is a good idea also, in addition to the old one.

I'll have my people call your people and we'll do lunch.

You download the ISOs then use a program to extract and set them up on a large flash drive.
    Install, run patches, run bootloader.

Oh I gotcha now. XP can be accessed but is basically useless. Definitely back those files up if you don't ever want to lose them. Hard drives have a finite life. I pay $2/m for 100gb of of Google drive and keep family pics, docs, precious things etc there for safe keeping. And have multiple hard drives. And flash drives. And burn data DVDs . I'm a psycho.

You could definitely put Linux on there and have it be like brand new too. A new hard drive ain't a bad idea either though. Finite. Anywho yeah yeah have your people call my people when your people wanna move on it.

Unless there are no drivers for your hardware, I'd get the windows 7 pro ISOs.

It's not every time, just sometimes.

If you're like me you have gotten used to removing that pesky character when you type, so just remember, take the "L" out of lover and it's over.

I bought a MacBook Pro a couple weeks ago but returned it for a number of reasons. Frustrated with reading reviews for best laptops on the market I just wanted to try a bigger screen and different kind of laptop. So exchanged it for this hp Envy x360. I will be returning this one as well because the track pad is terrible. I do like the 15 inch screen and the light up keyboard. But this track pad is driving me insane. Does anyone have another suggestion for a basic easy to use lap top for just internet browsing , nothing heavy? one other thing I cant stand about this lap top is the LOUD clicking when I hit the track pad.. talk about obnoxious.:(

I'm really digging my Acer Spin 360 that I got on clearance @ Sams. It's basically a laptop that can be used as a tablet. (Full HD touch screen.)
    6 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Core i3 (7th gen), Windows 10

My last Acer laptop is still hanging on after 7 years -- though it does have a few "issues"...

thanks Chunks, that sounds cool. i really loved the sony viao laptop i had for 8 years but it was all messed up and slow and figured it was time for some new technology. There are so many choices out there. I guess its kinda like riding a bike, you have to try them out to get a feel for the fit.

I could use a push in the right direction. Not very computer savy. I rented Dazed and Confused the movie off youtube but I keep getting this, "Your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available, Click here to visit our frequently asked questions about HTML5 video". Ive changed browsers, tried to update, with no luck. I've got 27 days left on the rental so no rush but I want to watch the fucker. I'm rocking a almost 15 year old, porn virus riddled, HP desktop, with a outdated version of Windows. Don't remember what version..... more like 12 years ago....

Any simple preferably free info would be appreciated.

I'm taking a shot in the dark that it's so old that all your browsers still use Flash and dont do the newer HTML5? I'm not familiar enough with Windows to give you any helpful advice, sorry. What browsers have you tried?

You don't know what Windows? It'd be alot cooler if you did…

Anyone else hate Windows 10? Windows 7 upgraded without my permission and gave me the BSOD. I had to buy 10 and one of my problems is that when I installed itunes it doesn;t recognize any of my music that loaded from store bought cds. So I got angry and deleted itunes and discovered 10 doesn;t even have media player, so now I have no way to play music from my GD cpu! I like music.

    IS IT JUST ME!?!?!?!?!?
