Colorado running out of pot

Any scarcity of weed is in the licensed retail space only, and will only last for the first half of the year. Only medical marijuana facilities are being licensed for retail sales through 2016. Their Jan. 1 retail sales inventory was constrained to 15% of their medical grow. But on Jan. 1 if they had a retail license, they also had a license to up their plant counts. So LOTS of new retail weed now being grown that couldn't be started before Jan. 1.

All that being said, the seed to sale tracking system that was to be in place years ago is still not set up so I'm sure there will be lots of weed getting moved to retail against rules in the mean time.

I was dismayed to hear that WA does not allow home growers to grow legally now. Very sorry to learn that. It makes growing quite a bit less stressful, although maybe not as exciting. Still have to worry about thieves, just not thieving cops.

I'm not in the industry, just a home grower, so if I got any facts wrong, someone in the industry please correct me. Very hard to keep track of it all!

The 70/30 rule as it applies to medical indicates a mmc may only purchase their 30 from another mmc.

Supply and demand has increased prices. Supply will stay tight enough to keep prices up until private growers can legally wholesale to a dispensary.
ya those 3 plants in flower will supply a lot of folks:) I would just grow my own FTS

If I was to sell an oz of weed I grew, you would be looking at paying around 400. I charge 130 a 1/4.

There are a lot of things that go into it though. Risk, travel and being able to get fresh no seeded or stem bud that has been cured for at least a month. If you are a frequent customer you receive anywhere between 1-4g extra.
lol, where the hell do you live? lol. I used to live in Fla where its super fucking illegal. In Orlando 3-350/oz of premo that was smuggled down from Co, premo for Fla, not Co, pretty low shelf for Co. Same stuff maybe goes for 400 if buying a single oz in swfla or smaller areas. For stuff that looks like your bud, 250 maybe in smaller areas or to kids that don't know any better.

Do you guys think the legalization will eventually eliminate the demand from small time growers? Im in michigan and honestly Im very leary of it going legal.
a big part of my income and many more like me comes from pot.. The thought of some big corporations taking over the market depresses the shit out of me. not to mention how the government will piss away the tax money.

The small time professional growers in Colorado were absolutely fucked over by the larger scale operators that were able to get legalized as mmj providers. In short order they organized and pushed the smaller growers out of the market through regulations they helped to get established in law (HB 1284). The vertical integration model here in CO is horrible. I'd like the market to be more open than what it is.

I can now grow my own at home and not fear trouble from local authorities, which lowers the stress level of growing by a huge amount. So overall I am happy with how things are trending but certainly understand the anti-legalization position of professional growers wanting to protect their market.

Thats what I was afraid of. Its not like its my only source of income but its the difference between struggling and comfortably providing for my family.

Maybe when the time comes, those companies will enter into a contract with many small growers of our plant. That way they do not have to grow the plant themselves. Cigarette companies do that and other companies. What do they call this arrangement again?:leaf:

I watched this program on tv that showed a big time entrepreneur in Colorado starting up a massive legal weed business. This guy is creating jobs but it would be no different than working at walmart. You get your piss ass wage while they get richer.
The only thing that makes me think theres hope is the ridiculous price there selling it for. My shits as dank as it comes and ive never let it go for more then 175 oz.
Hopefully people will still be willing to buy illegal if it saves them money and supports the locals.

Big ass grows usually have poor quality output. I don't see it as a threat. I don't sell anything but friends around here are getting street weed for around $200 an oz, quality is generally better that local dispensary larf.

That arrangement is called Big Pharma...no thanks.

What's funny is, for years I assumed the legality/illegality of the product drove prices. Turned out I was wrong. When you tell everyone they don't need a prescription anymore, prices go up b/c many producers are not profit driven and do not wish to expand...like me.

And it takes a solid 3 years to learn proper growing methods etc., so it isn't like you can simply raise an army overnight to meet new demand.

Really sucks that private growers can't wholesale to dispensary. That's where I see an easy fix. Allow the home growers to dispose of extra weight at mmc's.

Alls it would take is the State issuing ubi ### to growers, given to retailers when you sell.

you get 1099s just as any other self contractors do from the retailers at the end of the year...pay your taxes on it...easy shit

retailers have to keep track of Cost of goods sold anyway.. they should be allowed to buy from anyone they want with a UBI ###.... whoever has the best weed :)

All marijuana must be lab tested and certified mold/pesticide free...proof of testing before retail can purchase for public consumption

Let me see if I understand Colorado pot law correctly. In Colorado currently, home growers are not permitted to sell to cannabis stores, either medical recreational stores? Is this correct.
