Hey there! I'm looking for information on the process of becoming a caregiver in Colorado. Is there an online resource I'm missing? Any info/help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

Caregivers and extended plant count have come under fire more than once.
You are def putting yourself up there on the radar and better be sticking to "by the book" 100 percent.
Sometimes with the wrong type of person signed they could even be growing at home without your knowledge.
I don't know how that works now but the way it used to work was if both you and the person you're growing for are growing there had to be some form of written agreement about how the plant count would be divided between you and them,
Why someone able to grow would sign anyone a caregiver is beyond me though.

Also..keep in mind that legislation may be changing that will require all caregivers to report to the state where they grow whereas currently that is voluntary information...

i wonder if the new caregiver laws will be rubber stamped all the the way through... they were voted 5-0 in favor of the new laws..

I wouldn't doubt it. I don't think many people can deny the system is heavily abused. I think that limitation on recs for severe pain would draw more public scrutiny but that may be the reason the bill doesn't actually establish any guidelines but rather requires that they be established.

big money try to blame it on the little guy. when its the huge warehouses doing all the border damage. basement guys arent really doing much compared to guys with 5+ 20+ light gardens... plus i wouldnt doubt it if lots of the big disp still have a few pounds leak out to the black market even though they have mitts in place.

Hey guys....

I keep getting 404 errors on some of the stuff on the site but think I found all the info I need. Just have a few stupid questions....

First of all, am I correct in understanding that, untill new regs go into effect, to become a caregiver you need to meet the requiments at the top of this page, https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/become-caregiver and submit one of these forms for each patient, https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/sites/default/files/CHED-MMR1012-Caregiver-Acknowledgment-110114-REV.pdf That's it right?

And now I guess the more important question. Do I actually benefit from doing this if the other people I grow for also live in the same house? IE. Am I any more protected if I grow at home and have my mom and gf, who both live with me and are mmj patients, fill out the forms?

I would wait till the dust settles on the reform they are doing

Since they are in the same house you shouldn't need to be assigned as a caregiver. The only real reason for being a caregiver is to justify having plants for people that do not live at the location. If they live in the house, no one is going to question who actually takes care of the plants, only if the number of plants matches the mmj recs.

Colorado weed laws are pretty messy and confused, why can't home growers send our final product off to get turned into concentrates or get lab tested. All this government greed is pretty ugly.

Maybe it has something to do with shipping issues. The postal service would be a definite no no and if you open the door allowing UPS and similar services to ship cannabis then you know its going to get abused.

It would be nice if we could though.

Yea but what if there was like a weed store you could bring your product, pay them , take a ticket and come back in a week to receive your concentrate. Same with labs I mean the dispensaries are obviously using both of these facilities... The main reason i'm complaining is because the dispensaries don't send strain specific for hash they just send big batches of trim and it's too indica for me and makes me have horrible anxiety (I can't smoke indica) so I have to search and search for good concentrates. Since I grow only sativas that help me with my anxiety problems if I could just send 1 plant off it would save me a lot of money and even more hassle.

There is so much bs, mmj built this industry yet patients that produce their own medicine have the hardest time. Especially with the new stuff on extracts.

I think it's mostly to due with lobbying on behalf of cannabusiness owners. I think eventually it will impossible to grow your own, even if you are very sick.

Also I believe dispensaries and mips use licensed couriers that can transport large amounts. At least that's what I half remember from somewhere, lol.

PS> If you are willing to buy it by the gram you can def get top notch strain specific extracts, around here at least. You can even find slabs of nug or wp run at some places. It's almost hard to find trim run anymore, no one wants it, and when you do it's by the slab or 20/g, etc. Best I've had is Greendot.

...and this, with a caveat; check the regulations for the municipality you live in, to be sure there aren't any local plant count limitations that might supersede your card count. Some cities have limits.

They've tried to do that before. That's how they do it in most places in Cali. I'd be pissed if they tried doing that here! Lol.

I need to talk to my attorney about this as I want to get my wholesale license, but it is to my understanding to get your wholesale license and to sell wholesale you still have to be affiliated with a dispensary, no?
