This whole process is making me hate the democrats. If you watch the video, the only people that spoke up against hb 2149 were Republicans! I usually vote Libertarian, but if the Republicans can somehow kill this bill, I will vote Republican in the next election. I didn't think I'd EVER say that.

I've been contacting my reps constantly throughout this process and haven't received a single reply. I emailed Rep. Cody earlier and told her what I thought about her and her colleagues. I just got done emailing my districts senator, so hopefully that does some good. All I know is that for some reason, the Republican's are on our side...and our state senate is republican majority. There is a bit of hope.

I think it shows the true persona and agenda of democrats. A Robin Hood Trojan Horse. Social programs, subsidized medical, welfare, tax rebates, and then turn around with regulations that will line their own pockets and force people to require government handouts.

I thought that Washington State, along with Colorado, had decriminalised marijuana completely....?

What's happening now....?

So I'm a little bit confused. There is a senate bill (5887) that is slightly different than HB 2149. 5887 has been around longer and is a tad more lenient...it allows you to possess as much as 3 plants can give you instead of just 3 ounces. It's still bullshit but I can easily get 8 ounces off of 3 plants which is definitely better than only being allowed to harvest 3 ounces.

What is going on? It looks like 5887 is still moving through senate and their process....can anybody enlighten me on the situation? I'm doing my best to understand this BS but it's awfully confusing sometimes.

Contacted cody and my senatorial representation. Support bill 2233. Arrest def and protection, unchanged possesson and plany counts. No mandatory register and taxing (instead of closing) dispensaries.

For sure, HB 2233 is the best bill by far. I've voiced support for that bill to all of my representatives. What happens if HB 2233, HB 2149 and SB 5887 all pass....? I know the basics of the democratic process but I don't understand how there can be multiple medical marijuana bills trying to amend the same law.

edit: I should rephrase that. I understand how there can be multiple bills on the same issue but is it just the first bill to pass or what? I know SB 5887 is still moving through Senate with support...if HB 2149 passes in Senate does that just kill the other bills? Or could HB 2149 amend RCW 69.51a and then SB 5887 could pass at a later date and amend the changes in RCW 69.51a?

Here's what I had to say to my senator concerning 2149:

Bill: 2149 (Oppose)

Subject: Current bill shows a complete lack of understanding of the issue...

2149, if passed, will place undue hardships on an untold many. I am a former Hanford worker; I've worked as a Senior Radiological Control Technician & Senior Health Physics Technician for various companies. I'm currently undergoing my 3rd layoff in 4 years.

I'm also a medical marijuana patient. Patients don't just smoke the flowers, but often process the plants into friendlier edible or otherwise concentrated forms like oil or butter. The limitations proposed will severely limit patient's abilities to do this.

In addition to the unrealistic reduction of plant numbers, the forcing of everyone to place 3 in flower and 3 in vegetative states is not feasible for a few reasons. People with limited indoor garden space often only run one phase at a time. Those lucky enough to be able to grow outdoors in nature have absolutely no control over the cycles and would effectively be limited to 3 plants PER YEAR.

Please consider what I have to say and call me

Response: You have requested a response from Senator Sharon Brown

Sorry, but 1000 characters simply wasn't enough to finish expressing my opposition to this bill.

While I-502 is still in its infancy and regulators are scrambling to figure everything out, it is best to not mess with a system that is not broken. Get 502 up and running smoothly before making any attempts to change current medical marijuana laws.

If anything, add protection for patients (even every Washington resident!) for employment purposes. I've taken a huge risk to my professional life for my vocal support of these issues and I hope you will consider my opinions seriously.

Again, I can be called at the provided number or emailed at the provided email anytime to answer any questions to help enlighten anyone on the subject.

Many thanks!
