Coco pot size

i stop them about 4 feet because of space constraints, they would easily go 6 or more if i let them, and they get nice and bushy. they get to about 2-2.5 in the veg tent then easily double that in the 12/12 stretch

IMO the only way you should ever go above a 3 gal pot is if you want to water less frequently (which eliminates the benefit of coco) or you're growing over 6' plants. My plants range from 4-6 ft in 3 gal containers and i autowater 4 times a day.

I'm talking big indoor trees... One per light... So avg per light, what volume of coco would you suggest/run?

5 gal for up to 8 ft. 7 gal for beyond. judge your watering as follows: time how long it takes for the pot to dry i.e. 24 hrs. And times that by 4. That is how often you should water after you're in bloom.

I've been following this thread closely and the more I read here, the more certain I feel that "Cap's Style" is the way to go.
I'm a first-timer and I've built my own CXB3590 array for a 20sq ft tent.
Any comments regarding Cap'n Style?

Just looked up Cap'n and i run my grow similar in some aspects but I'm not a big fan of the flowering method. It's like a dwc setup on each plant which restricts height, It's a lot of cords/things that can go wrong, and if you haven't dealt with nutrient reservoirs before you don't realize the headache of algae/slime build up (even if it seems lightproof) and the weekly cleanings of reservoirs. This will also prevent you from expanding plant count in the future if you choose to. I suggest starting with a more manual method of growing when you first start so you only have to deal with the normal newbie mistakes and not overwhelm yourself with hydro complicities off the bat.

Thanks for your response. Gotta love RIU.
How do you think it will restrict the height?
The Cap'n (god bless him) doesn't seem to worry about slime, he just pumps out the nutrient each week and replaces it.
I like the idea of effectively ''flushing' the plant every day, to ensure that the entire root mass is thoroughly soaked - and at the same ph as your nutrient solution. When I've grown houseplants in the past, I've always treated them to half an hour fully submerged in the sink every couple of weeks, and they've loved it. Not much chance of pulling out 4, 7-gal buckets with their scrog and doing that every now and then.

Height restrictions in the sense of the pot being on top of a tote but if the extra couple feet doesn't matter then that's not an issue. Also I doubt it's easy as just pumping out the old and refilling. I have to clean 2 55 gal barrels each week that are lightproof ed as much as humanly possible and I've got to goto town with a scrub brush getting all the slime crap off the sides. Just saying the algae or whatever evil spawn is called can be a bitch. And you don't want that stuff building up on ya. But it does sound like a nice option. No options are easy. Try it and if you like it then disregard my heeds.
