You know,, when I was over visiting, i wanted to pay attention and see how your aquarium air pump and stone were hooked up, but I never even heard it running and I forgot to ask,, is your air pump really that quiet>? or was it not turned on?
Well, I'd say its loud, but not louder than the 6" inline fan sitting on top of my tent... or the 8" house vent fan that was an experiment that is exhausting the space I have in the closet next to the tent. So, over that din, the hum of the bubbler gets totally lost. :)

I suspect in your cab the hum of the motor and its vibration could be heard. It has rubber feet which are great because without those I think it would buzz across the floor until it hit a wall... and they do insulate some of the buzz transfer, but out of the box its not what I would consider stealth. I got it on a whim in the pet section of a grocery store when I was thinking of making my own teas -- which is to say with some research I'm sure there are quieter ones out there.

I was doing some research ( amazon reviews) and have found a type that appears to be much quieter than other brands, plus I only need a very small air pump and stone for my 2.5 gallon res, ,, I was thinking of ordering one , they are only 8 bucks with free shipping on ebay, and if needed I could build a little box,, or even a cardboard box with insulation inside to quiet that sucker down ,

That's what I was thinking, sometimes even just sitting them on bubble wrap can help, because its often the vibration transfer to the cab floor that is the loudest part -- don't want those boards buzzing.

I have a couple of single outlet pumps from my 5 gal bucket kits that I'm not using, you can have one if you need it.............

thanks for the offer, thats cool man, I honestly have not decided if I am going to do air injection in my sip,, I have a few months to decide, hahaha, my grow box on the last harvest yeilded me my legal state limit for a rec user,, so any upgrades to make my harvest bigger is well,,, you know,,, illegal,, there i said it, but then again, oregon allows me to have 8 ounces dried flower, and so many grams of oils and so many ounces of edibles, so i was thinking I could turn the extra yeild into those and be inline with our legalities here
many guys who grow with the octopots or outdoor sips do not use air injection and thier crops grow just fine,, so it comes down to if we want to extra boost of turbo power the oxygen gives the roots?

My air pump for the cloner sits on a stack of foam. But all my others just sit on the lids of the 18 gal sips. All that soil should be enough to muffle the vibrations. I need to replace the fans on my cob panel. Those are louder than my inline fan.

on my last grow I found myself kicking my Cob fans up to full 12 volts , not for cooling the cobs, but I could see the Cola tops start moving with the increased airmovement in the top of the box, lol
I am watching your grow and robs and someguys , to see how the harvests go with the airstones, the octopots and the earthbox's all grow without the air injection, ( at least from the factory)

Another day, lot's of fresh growth everywhere. And it looks like after two days of holding steady the water level indicators have dropped about 3/8" -- so I would imagine the wicking has begun. It looks like both dropped the same amount, which would imply that both of my experimental wicks are working, and at the same rate. Pretty cool so far.

5 days into 12/12, so nothing too exciting yet. There is a lot of new growth, and the level indicators are showing that the res is a bit less than half full. I'll let them go down a bit more, and then have my first experience of refilling them.

I have a tendency to let my plants keep most of their foliage, but after throwing out a bunch of larfy popcorn bud on my last grow, I'm trying to be better about trimming them up. I'll probably do one more pass once the stretch stops and I see which parts did not make it to the light. I'm still trying to fill in some holes in the canopy, while controlling the main branches.

Looking good brother. You filled that screen up good. Wait until your first refill. You're gonna laugh when it's over. I added water yesterday to mine. I am really liking the SIP's.....

Thanks bro, the plants are doing all the work! :)

I hope I'm laughing... That would be good. :) I'm probably going to need to put about 3 gallons of water in each one if I fill them today. I have a sort of vague idea about how that will happen. Something to do with a one gallon jug, a funnel, and lots of trips to the storage tank.

I've never run these strains before, so I don't know how much they stretch or how much bud their secondary branches will produce. I've completely run out of horizontal space, all "training" is done (after one short week) and all growth will be vertical moving forward. In the "I'll do it differently next time" list, I will veg and train in the SIPs for 3/4 of their veg time (instead of dropping them in unshaped, cramming them under a scrog, and flipping them directly to flower). All things considered, I think they look OK, but definitely room for improvement.

Since this grow is a mix of good infrastructure and poor planning, anything could happen depending on how these strains react to this situation. I'm betting it will be decent, but probably not everything it could have been. But hey, that leaves me with a reasonable goal for next time. I just weighed my last grow, and for all its oddities and room for improvement, it was on every measure a record breaker for me -- whether you look at total weight, g/sf, or g/w. This current one could do even better.

And just out of curiosity, in my last grow I vegged under 200w, then the last two weeks of veg and the first 4 weeks of flower were under 400w, then some buds got too close to some of my lights and I dimmed the 5000k units about halfway, so I finished the last 5 weeks of flower under 350w... What number would you use to figure out g/w?

As for the GPW, I think forget about that on this one with all the different lights used at different parts of the grow, but just my opinion there brother.

As for the canopy, looks good to me, I think in another week or so that canopy is going to be nice and full and that space will be crammed. I can't wait to see this right before harvest lol. If my first run turns out to be half this good I will be a happy camper. Albeit I will not be doing a SCROG but I am speaking in regards to the canopy in general.

I don't make a lot of grow choices with g/w as a motivation, but it is an interesting yard stick to see how my overall efficiency is doing. When I changed from CFLs to burple LEDs and then finally COB LEDs, the numbers got better every time. At this point since I'm doing most of my growing in one 2x4 tent and there won't be any light upgrades for the foreseeable future, total harvest weight is as good a measure as anything. If I didn't change up strains every grow, I'd probably learn a lot more.

As you said, "that space will be crammed" -- and that could turn into an epic harvest or unhappy plants, just depends on how these girls like being crammed. Well, that and how good my light source and medium can support all of that growth. It's always a big experiment. :)

You got my attention I am curious because I have a hunch it will be an Epic harvest (:
