COB positioning in a small grow?

Just about to start installing a 200w 4 Cree COB LED setup in my small 60cmx60cm grow tent. Quick question...

How should I arrange the lamps - each centred over it's own "30cm square" quarter or will that cause a problem with a hotspot at the centre?

In the center of each of your 4 sq ft. This is kind of a No brainer...
15cms in from each side wall. Not diagonally. But from each side.

Totally agree - no brainer - but another brain is always better than my one!

You would probably be fine with 2 cobs for your 2x2 tent. More than fine actually. I'm in the exact same boat as you, and I have been spamming the forums with my stupid questions. Check out some of mine, if you want.

I could get away with two but I'd have to run them flat out... I'd rather have 4 and be able to tune things down...

Yeah I've watched all of growmau5's videos, they're awesome. But you wouldn't have to run 2 flat out I think? Unless you're supplementing co2 your plants can't possible use all that PPFD.

Maybe 4 is good for when you flower..If plants can use more light then.. I don't know enough about it to argue the point. But if I were you I would make a cross shape, like growmau5 did.


But without the middle cob, and with a bit less spacing perhaps. So you're 6 inches from each corner at least. That would be perfect. That was my plan until I settled for 2x cob at least.

I've already got a frame in my tent holding a lighttube fitting central - being pulled out of square because of ducting. As my tent is only 60cmx60cm it needed to be central.

I'll repurpose that frame to position the COB/heatsink engines. They'll be 15cm from from each edge, each sitting in the centre of their own 30cm square quarter.

yeah u don't need to make it exact, in that tight a space with that many cobs...
