Closet grow tent setup

So i am starting to put together the things needed for a small grow in my new place. I want to use the growlab 60 tent with an air cooled 400 watt HPS. A buddy of mine will give me a great deal on his barely used 4" vortex fan rated at 172 cfm. Do you think this will be enough to cool the tent . or should a spend some more and get a bigger and more powerful fan. btw the exaust vents in the tent are 5" so the 4" ducting will fit as opposed to 6".

If your ordering from HTG, ask them about the vents. Mine said would be 5" vents but they were 6" (which I was happy for). They dont make 5" ducting so no idea why they would make 5" vents.

Also You would more than likely need another fan with that small of a tent and a 400w light. Im running 8 CFLs and having heat issues with 2 6" fans (240 free air cfm).

Also what is the temp in the room you will be growing in? Hopefully it can get pretty cold if need be.

But yes, you may need another fan for exhaust/intake.

You only need to exhaust a 20 cubic foot area, so a 170cfm fan should be swapping the air in your tent 6-7 times a minute which should be more than adequte IMHO, depending on inlet temperature.

I think your main concern will be controlling the height of your ladies. 400 watts in a 2' X 2' X 5' area...subtract about 2' or more for the light fixture and height the light needs to be above the plants, and maybe a foot for the height of the pots and you've only got about 2' of height to grow in. How do you plan on controlling height?

I was thinking a scrog with 2 or 3 plants in coco for a medium. or maybe like a mini sog with 4 or so. The strain will be Reserva Privada Kandy Kush.

Do you think that with this setup everything will stay cool or should i get another fan? That is my biggest worry at the moment.
