Cloning straight into soil

OK. So 3-4 days ago I took some clones from my White Widow plant. The were cut at an angle, rinsed, and planted into FFOF soil. The first watering had 1 drop per gallon of Super Thrive in it. I have been misting once or twice a day with ph'd water only.

How long should it be before they recover and start growing?

How do they look to you guys? 3-4 days from being planted.

You'll want to trim off a bunch of leaves, and you can trim off half of a fan leaf instead of the whole thing. But you have way too much foilage on those for non rooted cuttings to support.

You should apply a root hormone before potting, but as far as using ocean forrest, nothing wrong with it.

I've cloned in soil before, with mixed results. Worked best when I had them under a dome and kept them pretty warm.

Is there any method of telling if they are NOT doing OK? Or do I just wait and see which ones make it? I want to flower them ASAP.

if they are still standing by day 2 then ur doing alright, as far as how they look, alot of those leaves will die before your plant roots, the clone doesnt take in enough water without roots to have the amount of leaves you do... cut all the leaves in half across the leaf and u should have a better chance. Also if u didnt use any rooting hormone ur really lowering ur chances of a successful rooting and ur adding way to much time on. On average you should see roots within the 5-7th day when properly starilizing ur cloning tools and using rooting hormone, cover them up and make sure to mist at least once a day

i just took a clone and put it directly into soil without hormone. i originally took the clone ten days ago, left it in a cup of water and no roots started. the clone was healthy though, so tonight i cut it in half and put the top half into a home made compost soil. Im trying it as an expirement and i figured id comment since youre doing the same thing! do you usually clone without rooting hormone?

Pay attention bro. When using the soil cloning method make sure you use a heting pad 1st or you have to know you're temp is at least 75f.2nd use a low dome and spray the lid only.3rd do not remove the lid for the 1st 48 hrs and after that let em breathe for ten mins the 1st day then 20 and then no dome.I have had great root growth in 7 days with beginning roots showing up in 4 days.Jorge says it cant be done but Jorge is wrong.

haha you dont have to be that particular to get clones to root, that just helps them do it faster. how tall are your cuttings usually hydro and breakneck?

It depends when I'm getting a new clone I take what I can get.If I'm taking from my girls they are usually the standard 3/16 thickness at least 3 nodes.

For %100 success rates in soil(not really) use 1/3 perlite, 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite mixed up in small containers inside a catcch tray with a couple of mill of water. also use root one from walmart $4.

You didn't mention, but did you give them a dip in the hormone juice before potting? I just took clippings about two weeks ago and they took hold.

One trick you can do is slightly pull on the plant to see if there's any roots, obviously, you have to do this with care, and I'm sure someone here is going to say how bad of an idea that is, but i use it all the time.

Just give a little pull up, and if it comes up easily, you know its not rooted. I can get roots in 10 days with Olivias rooting gel. Works like a dream, and I've used other hormone products, hands down the best.

But you need to drop about 50% of the foilage you have to keep them alive.
