Is it normal that clones taken off a flowering plant are still yellow and brown after 2 weeks? Also could this have been caused by placing the cubes in perlite?

I've never heard of cloning a flowering plant without reverting it to veg first. It may be possible but I"ve never heard of it>

every time i have taken from a flowering plant they stay yellow then then i get new growth and all the old yellowing leaves die off
