If you have some cv driver, do you always go parallel circuit? In series circuit the voltage is added up, but in parallel the current is splitted evenly? So with a prallel circuit and a cv driver you always max it out?

But when I understand it correctly, parallel circuit always has a problem with thermal runaway, because the COBs will not heat up evenly? So especially for a beginner a series circuit, and some cc driver is the best choice?

Otherwise I just recommanded Colanoscopy something wrong... :/
Not necessarily always in parallel on a CV driver. Say for instance, you had 12 blue mono diodes running at about 3v each; on a 36v 2.1a CV driver you could run those 12 in series and push all 2.1a through the string. You could also run 3 parallel strings of 12 diodes, and split that 2.1a between the 3 strings, for about 700ma each.

The problem you mentioned with parallel wiring, at least for new builders, is thermal runaway. Even if you buy 5 of the exact same chip, same bin, even same production batch, due to manufacturing tolerances all 5 chips could run at a slightly different voltage. Current and voltage are co-dependent in most all circumstances, and as such each chip would receive different amounts of power. This means that one chip will be hotter than the rest, causing its Fv to change, and further unbalancing the distribution of power. Eventually you could burn out a chip, pushing even more power to the rest of the chips; on and on until the whole system goes down.
However, with a properly selected CV driver, you can minimize this possibility since CV drivers have a hard voltage ceiling. With a little bit of research and planning, CV or CC are both perfectly good options.

Great choice on the 320 man, excellent. you can actually safely run 12 gen 6 12-12s in series on that driver as the COBs have Fv of about 33.9v at 700ma, and recommended max on that driver is 428v. I would suggest grabbing one more of each Kelvin and using an even 4-4-4 square layout. You will get more power, better driver efficiency, and more even distribution out of this setup. It was supposed to be a 5 cob build to start with. Think it may have to stay at the 10. The guy I found for chips does a minimum of 5. Mouser confirmed my order for the hlg320 c700a too so that is on the way. Still not ordered the 3000k yet. (need wages first) I'll be posting a thread regarding my build so will drop you a link when it's up if you want mate. And thanks for putting my mind at rest regarding components so far

In my opinion you choosed wisely ;)

10 light sources are better than 5!!! This first driver was way overpriced! No you don't have to spent more money, but getting more COBs!

I agree. It has already been dispatched the first driver but I told him I will be returning as soon as it arrives. Which he is fine with. But there's still £144 I can't touch for a while. Mouser was £113 including vat. So until I get a bit more cash In I can't order more chips sadly

I could have trained her better in veg, it's been hell trying to get everything in the right place. I could have filled out the net a bit more even, I figure it's a good idea to leave some room for airflow though. On the plus side...

I'm struggling with airflow in my room right now haha. I was gonna do a scrog but after a while didnt seem like it would work out well so I just let em go. That's a nice amount of budsites though bro

Definitely my favorite shot at this point.
And this is why I was inspired to build. I know I'm getting growth rates similar with a 600hps but cob is the way for me for now. Someone said quantum boards are the future though but I dunno. Either way can't wait to see what you crop from this brother

Thanks man! Honestly, discrete diodes like the QBs, Sun Boards, NextLight, Fluence, etc., are definitely the way to go for tent growers and vertical farming. Commercial/warehouse style ops, maybe, maybe not. It all depends on growing style. I really cant wait to see the results from that new light from @welight over at Cutter when they come out. I love the design and diode choices.

Looking good! Remembers me of my scrogging. But within time I changed my mind, and found alot of advantages in not using a net! You have even more control over the canopy with single strings. It's not more work, but it's more flexible than a fixed frame. Mainlining did great things for me, great tutorials on growweedeasy! Also Light Addict's tutorials on 420magazine about fluxing.
