Ice Probes are great if 2 conditions are met:
1. You are only chilling the nutrient solution (no CO2 generators or lights)
2. Your buckets are well insulated

I've chilled up to 30 gallons with just one of them without a problem. F'ing awesome for 50W.

I know I am hella late to this post, but I cannot find any instructional videos on how to mount one these Ice Probes to a reservoir. I am using a coleman cooler, 60 qt (15 gal). Anybody have experience with these Ice Probes?

I tried to run the chiller directly from the res and into the tub/buckets without much success. Basically, the water needs to be able to escape as fast as it comes into the tub or else the tub will overflow. As far as the chiller I bought, very pleased. It is very quite and doesn't seem to generate much heat.
With a UC setup, wouldnt the water level be maintained? I mean, the chiller is pumping it into the plant bucket, and the connecting pipes down below would be pulling water back into the rez, right? Sry for adding more questions to your question but im currently researching uc systems because i had the idea as an original thought (in an attempt to avoid water pumps) but just found out it's a popular thing.
