I have other posts going around about extremely high temps and dry soil in my grow tent. What is the cheapest way to ventilate a 5x2x4 grow tent with a 400w hps in it? Would those little computer fans work, and where would the cheapest place to order them from be?>

what ckckck is trying to say is that no the little computer fan won't keep your tent cool. Also, perhaps you should use a little common sense before posting and lastly, your lack of common sense is frustrating and further posts such as yours may induce someone into a murdious rage!

Home Deport has in-line duct fans that would work wonderfully.
4"-$24.97
6"-$27.97
8"-$33.97
I think you can do just as good with these as with the ones offer by the Hydro store!
427.97

those die real easy with any resistance to them. not bad to help for long hose lines or intakes but not to be the main exhausting, dont be cheep on the room. its the most important thing to spend on

is it a ducted reflector or are you trying to exhaust all the light heat from the tent with the one fan? If so, ie open reflector, I would guess a 6" fan 450 cfm thats always on would do it sucking from the ceiling of the tent, i would leave it on when the plants are sleeping because of humidity. Its good to have plenty of airflow in my experience, worth a good fan.

ok thanks every1. Its just a wide u shaped reflector, no cool tube, but would I need more than one of these fans, or could I just leave an open duct for air to be pulled through?

that wing will get so hot in that tent, you really need air cooled hood to try to achieve optimal conditions.

I had an 8 inch inline from hd for a six inch light and it hardly moved any air. I returned it after a week, my advice------ hi output inline fan if you're going to go this route.

I think it feels like a 250w with no ducting puts more heat into the room than a 1000w ducted with a 450cfm fan going thru it, to give you an idea of the difference. Thats just how it felt to me, so...
You can get a super good efficient grow environment in a tent, just gotta be able to keep the temp and humidity good. I have to make adjustments with different seasons with mine and using a thermometer with a hi/low memory has been key. AC is nice too depending on the surroinding room temps
