technaflora flower nutes hit 1400ppm. all of my 7 strains (inc gg#4) all responded very well with 1400). only a 1/16th of the tips get a little burn. perfectly acceptable in my book. been running 1400 for years. now I do 75%.
On other strains like Pineapple Express, I've taken Heavy16 up to 1800 with zero burn at all. I know it sounds crazy but im serious.

For me,less is more, the more I simplified things the bigger my yields got. I'm down to 600 ppm with some cal/mag,got rid of the boosters too. My last two grows were 19 and 20 ozs from a single plant with 265 watts of LED.
Apologies to everyone for the off topic discussion, hopefully everyone can look past it, but what is the key to choosing an LED that will yeild? 3+ watt diodes? Proper spectrum?

DIY COB's are killing it right now but they should be readily available in a commercial panel soon. Check out the LED section of the forum here,I have some threads or look for SupraSPL's threads if you want a LED education.

capt, you in a 20 gal to get those yields and under one huge ass light?

Got the test results today from my Chaos sample, wanted to know if there would be any difference between the sample I got from someone else that was HPS grown and my LED grown plant. Looks like almost all the levels were slightly higher and mine showed another terpene that didn't show in the HPS sample.
Would you run that strain again?

Most defiantly and I have one almost ready to go into flower. I've actually replaced my daily smoke of GG#4 with the Chaos and everyone who has tried it wants more, even the Glue lovers. The numbers don't look that impressive but it must be the combination of Cannabinoids levels because this stuff will light you up.
So the yield was 20 ounces i think i read? 3x3 space? Was it a 5-6 week veg for her? Fucking well done man!!!! You motherfuckers are slaying it with them lamps!!!

Thanks, these lights are crazy good and I can't wait to see what my new one will do,I started a thread about it in the LED section. It's top bin 3500k CXB3590's at 800ma,it's going to be passive cooled at around 63% efficient and have one third more PPFD than my CXA's and use about 30 less watts. I should get a bump in yield and the COB's will be drawing around 235 watts. Didn't keep track of the veg time but should be able to figure that out by my postings here and yea 20 off a 3x3.

I've been meaning to try one of these DIY LED builds for a while but I've been a little too busy to fit it in. This is making me want to bump it up on my list of things to try.

Right now I'm running multiple ballasts that put off a shit ton of heat so it would be nice to reduce energy cost and the amount of heat that they produce.

Have you noticed a pretty drastic difference in your electricity bill?

Very nice btw.

The look on everyone's face when they learned those beautiful buds where LED??? Freakin priceless;)
Most people (if they've been checking in on LEDs once in a while) shouldn't be too surprised. I think the price is what deters people, $1500-2000 for an LED panel costs more than a lot of peoples whole grow room lol.

I read an article a while back that was talking about LED vs. double ended hps and they found that LEDs weren't that much more efficient. Then again barely anybody I know uses the double ended fixtures.

I would imagine the major gain would be in the amount of heat that you'd have to remove from your room would be less with LEDs and your bill would drop slightly based on that.

Theres no question they work for some people with small spaces but for big rooms it seems like it would take a pretty large initial investment.

if I could find equivalent LED's to replace my 3x600hps in my 8x12x7 room (hoods are offset from center), and for a decent price that produces the yields I currently get, im all ears. I haven't even bothered to look any more (from a yr ago), from when I was looking I was very disappointed at the yield, quality and the enormous price tag of the units.

a fellow grower local to me grows with leds. his GG#4's at week 6 look like my week 4 glues. actually, mine look slightly better and bulkier.

ill gladly drop 500+ per led panel to save on my ac power needs and as long as it lasts for years, not months.

The problem with LEDs is the market is flooded with crap Chinese lights that make ridiculous claims and are way over priced for the quality of what they are selling you and then die way before their advertised life. Quality components is everything with LED when your trying to get something that can compare or out perform HPS. Most of these magazine comparisons between LEDs and HPS are a joke because they do not use the best LEDs,with the choice they give to compare to HPS I would stick with HPS. They're starting to sell a few commercial panels now that can compare or out perform HPS but most of the rest are not worth the investment. DIY is where you can put together a beast of a light at a good price,my new light will be about 63% efficient and should out yield with less watts than my current DIY light at 2 GPW.
