CFL Question

Hi Guys and Girls

I just finished setting up and lining my grow area in an un used larder. While I was germing my seeds I wanted to run a test to check for temps etc and found that my 400w hps setup was creating temps that could bake a potato.:o

As I do not want to move to a different growing space, and also dont want to fork out on a whole new setup I was wondering if it was possible to use my existing hps lamp holder/reflector with a 200w CFL if I take away the ballast?

If so I will buy both red and blue spec for both stages, and just switch the lamp when the time comes.

Cheers in advance guys:weed:

You probably can as long as you are pretty good at rigging things up. Usually it is a matter of drilling and retro fitting the socket and wiring. Good luck!

So its not just a case of un wiring the hps ballast from the rest of the fitting and just running it with the mains plug connected to the e40 lampholder?

Thanks for the reply by the way man 8)

A E-40 socket is bigger than what most cfl's use.In the states here a E-39 is the biggest mogul socket we use for hid's.Most big cfl's use a e-26 base and will not work with that socket.
If you have a cfl over there that will fit that socket, you can remove the ballast, ignitor and capacitor and rewire it for the cfl.OPH
