500 watts will do a 3' 1/4" x 3' 1/4" grow area.
Yes it will be enough light for 2 plants.

"50 watts per square foot is the necessary amount of light
optimal penetration during flowering.

Man, they are going to put off a lot of heat. I used 8 in about that size and that was too hot for my cabinet at the time.

Think Air-flow

It will work but not nearly as well as HID. You will get some light airy buds. 1/8 - 1/4 oz per plant. 6 months is a long time to wait for 1/2 oz of bud. But that is better than nada.

I was using (2) 100 watt 6400K CFLs
They were growing short and bushy, just like a 6400K would do
Then I added (2) 200watt 4700K CFLs with the 6400K CFLs
The growth was amazing. I would have to trim them every 4-5 days.

What are your views about mixing lights?
Like 200 watts of 6400K and 200 watts of 2700K 50% each.
