Hey canna, I will be back on Sunday. I don't think I will have a problem with the watering system honestly. It is pretty slick setup, I will post some pics next week. I am more worried about the root aphids going crazy when I am not there to keep them in check. Also worried about hermies after all the stress of the 203 dunk and burning on some plants.

Sorry about the journals lilroach, that would be depressing for sure. I really hope J is right and they are just in the process of importing all of them.

8 of the 42 "vacation" seeds have popped, I will be planting those out tomorrow or the next day...

Full disclosure here, I did find one "banana" on the JillyBean before I left. I plucked it and checked the whole plant thoroughly. I debated pulling it but decided to risk it... If there are more bananas when I get home I will pull it. I can't blame it only on defoliation, I think the SNS203 was also a contributing factor.

Got back from the trip Sunday night but was too tired to check anything and slept in so I didn't check the tent until last night. The ladies were left unattended for 10 full days. I lost the small C99 in the tent, I think it got too damp and couldn't transpire enough. It also looks like I may lose one of my HH clones in veg as well as a G13XHaze clone, I might be able to bring them back though. The HH plants in the tent stretched like crazy and one grew into the CFL and burnt the top cola to a crisp. Other than that the system worked perfectly, you wouldn't be able to tell they were unattended for the most part.

The JillyBean did not have any nanners on it so that experiment continues... I also re-pollinated all plants last night. The HH pollen did not take for the most part last time but the auto pollen did.

Forgot to take pics of the watering system but will put some up soon.

Here are some pics from last night

Me too, I can't complain leaving them for so long without any care at all. Of course I forgot to take pics of the watering system again.

On another subject, the HH have been a disappointment. I am growing HH from Nirvana and from Dutch Passion so I think it was just a bad strain choice but it is a bit early to tell for certain.

I have 3 growing from Dutch passion. I have one HH that looks very Sativa to me (the other looks sativa/hybrid). This is supposed to be a pure Indica strain so I am not even sure how it is possible to get such a Sativa pheno. It is also stretching like a sativa and putting on buds very slowly.

Leaf from the "Sativa" Dutch Passion HH

Leaf from the Dutch Passion HH that I am using colloidal silver on for feminized pollen (looks more Indica)

I wrote Dutch Passion yesterday to inquire about this and this is their response today. (I only sent the first pic to them)
Dear XXXXXX,

Thanks a lot for your message, and thanks for choosing to grow Dutch Passion seeds.

I see indeed a plant that looks like a sativa on your image, however, it's early in it's life, and it does look like Hollands Hope to me.

Hollands Hope is a pure indica, but does not always have the very cleart indica appearance.

You can see many images and customer feedback of this variety here:
http://www.dutch-passion.nl/en/cannabis-seeds/product/hollands-hope/3/

These pictures where taken by various growers of our Hollands Hope seeds, feedback is genuine feedback of visitors of our website.

Hollands Hope is a pure indica early harvest variety, which was developed outdoors in The Netherlands. In our climate and latitudeit is typically ready for harvest around the first week of october, sometimes even late september.

I hope that you will decide to give this variety a chance, it really is worth it!

I would appreciate it to saty informed about your grow.

Good luck,
Jouke
Dutch Passion

The underline is mine in the response. It makes them sounds like amateurs IMO, the plant is 6-7 weeks old and in my experience a plant will clearly show either indica or sativa characteristics by that age. I guess I am supposed to wait and it will magically shape shift into an indica within 3-5 weeks when it supposed to be ready to harvest lol... (giving the benefit of the doubt at 5 weeks left due to being flowered before they were mature)

An update on my outdoor planting on vacation.

I came down with a cold about 2 days into the vacation and am still battling a sinus infection as a result (taking antibiotics). I think the hike to plant them last Thursday may have triggered the infection (it was a long hike). I had to at least plant a few out after germing as many as I did. About 25 out of 40 ended up germing before I left (the rest will be planted by friends). I used spirolena powder with a NPK of 9-3-3 along with some rock dust, dolomite lime, epsom salt, and tomato fertilizer. 6 were planted out in 2 locations on the hike. One location will be very stealth but will get less sun and the other should do well but may be discovered by hog hunters at some point.

Here are some pics of the trail, planting site, views, etc...

Thanks J, I think I am "rounding the corner" on the sinus infection. Taking a trip down to the Mt. Rainier area this weekend so need to be in shape for the festivities!

Welcome aboard Mohican, happy to see you here. Mahalo ;)

Nice outdoor area Cas, hope bitches be huge when you go back.

Re: the HH - I'm growing it as well and it is the longest fucking flower of all my girls. I thought its because I had let them get pot bound previously if you recall. But now its 12 weeks into flower, and still not ready. Leaves on those girls look like the first leaf you showed above. Slender, very sativa'esque

I think they will have all they need for 4-6 weeks. I took a lot of pics to aid in getting my buddy out to the spot but no guarantee he will find them or even make the attempt. I know they will get enough water/moisture, I am hoping I can make it back out sometime in late September (probably early for the area/growing climate)...

I am losing confidence in the HH crosses. Even the Nirvana HH from clone are not progressing much more than the Dutch Passion HH which were 12/12 from 10 days into veg... From what I have read they do way better outdoors under the big HID in the sky but I have my doubts they will finish by early October here.

The JH X HH pollination has taken as well as some JB X HH, I am thinking I will plant those out in the same numbers as the HH X HH and see what happens.

I found a confirmed hermie in the K#5 and culled them both tonight (there were two in the pot).

Was pollinating a plant and didn't bother to look at what it was (thought it was a PD), turns out it was the Harlequin X SNSW... Very happy with this plant.

I'm betting the outside girls will be done in September or early October. Indoors though I think your right. My HH are 12 weeks in flower, as are 1 1/2 of my g13. They have something in common other than that as well... they both foxtail quite a bit. I can't help but think its me doing something wrong..

And Damn that Harlequin x SNSW is looking might frosty. Resin out to the tips of fucking fan leaves? Am I seeing that right?

Did you take cuttings?

Yeah canna, that plant is super frosty almost all the fan leaves are covered in trichs! No cutting yet, I will have to take one soon. My cloning setup had to be removed from the veg room to make space for the watering system. One more project...

The crazy thing is that plant was from seed, compared to the other plants from seed (HH, K7, K1) it is leaving them in the dust. The Sugar Plum X Plushberry HB from seed is also doing well but not quite as frosty as the Sugar Plum mom (will post a pic at some point).

Canna, I agree with J. It is just in the genetics, your doing nothing wrong IMO. I am guessing the Haze in the G13XHaze is causing a longer flowering time. The HH just has me all around puzzled, hope your right about the performance outdoors...

I do know my colas are fattening up still. I'm confident I stunted them at least two weeks because of a rough transplant :-/ but still its supposed to be a 6-8 week strain if I recall correctly.

I forgot about the transplant issue, I guess that explains some of it. I know I won't be growing any pure HH indoors again, maybe a cross just to see how they might do.

Just realized I haven't said anything about the RA problem since I have been back. The population of fliers did increase, my hanging sticky traps are littered with them. The duct tape I left on the floors almost looks black there are so many. The plants seem healthy for the most part. There is a bit of magnesium deficiency in the Sugar Plum and Sweet n Sour Widow, not sure if it is actual deficiency or the "false" magnesium deficiency that RAs can cause.

I think I need to treat them with something again but not sure what yet. They only have about 3 weeks to go, today is day 43 of flower. Last night they got a full strength dose of Flora Nova to boost the P a bit.

From what I've read this is when they go ape shit. Probably a really good thing you stickied up! I'd go nematodes.. definitely something bio and not chemical

Cascadian

Well-Known Member
Yeah, I agree. I am just going to let them go through harvest with no treatment. I have read that the nematodes take time to colonize so I don't think they would make a big difference. In veg is another story, the SourT3 is starting to wilt etc and when I picked it up yesterday I saw 2 huge RAs hanging out on the bottom. I will need to treat the vegging plants soon. After harvest I will be taking clones and getting rid of/planting out the old rootballs.

I also spotted spider mites on the K7 plant and cut off a bunch of leaves. Still some on it but I am just going to risk it for the 2-3 weeks. For some reason the sativa dominant "K" plants are very hard to pollinate, not sure about what seeds I maight get from them. The rest are looking good.

Still have not defoliated the JB for the last time. Might have some time tonight to start that process. Today is day 49.

Here are some pics of the watering setup I used while on vacation. It is just a res with a 400 GPH submersible pump that is adjustable with some 1/2" tubing that gets split off into 4 lines that each have 2 or 3 sprayers on them depending how many trays need to be filled. I could have bought a separate sprayer for each plant that is set on the top of the soil but they were $5 each and didn't feel like spending $80. So, I just set it up to fill seedling trays that the plants were set into so they could wick up the moisture from the trays. A digital timer was used so I could run the pump by the minute. I was gone Friday through the following Sunday. In veg I ran the pump on M/W/F for 1 minute while I was gone, it filled the trays up about 40%. In flower I ran the pump on Monday and Thursday for 2 minutes and it filled the trays to about 70% capacity.

It was pretty cheap to put together.
Pumps $24 ea delivered
Timers $13 ea delivered
20 Gallon rubbermaid garbage cans $13 ea
100' of 1/2 hose $28
Fittings/sprayers/clamps/etc about $20 ea
Seedling trays about $10 for each room

About $95 for each setup

Res.jpg lines.jpg lines2.jpg

Here is a tip if anyone is going to build a similar system. Drill a very small hole in the tubing at the top of the res so when the pump shuts off you don't create a siphon. Without this the water can continue to flow without the pump running. A small amount of water will spray out of the hole back into the res but will quickly fill the line with air when it shuts off. The orange arrow shows where I drilled the hole.
