View attachment 2649952 Is this the ONLY way you are supposed to use the carbon filters?

I was thinking of basically reversing this method. Because I want to have a flower tent and veg tent and want to exahst both up through the Attic and in the attic i want to secure a large carbon filter so the "dirty" air would be going through the INSIDE OUT . Get what i'm sayin?

Thank you all much. I did search for this and wasnt getting much luck

Oh ya and Going to use 5 gal buckets for my first DWC grow. Just curious what size net pots are suggested? 6", 8" ? And with those, what size rock wool cube would be suggested for those?

Flower room is a 5x5 tent, i think they are like 7 or 8 foot high..

Also, my thought for the veg room was to use 3.5 Gallon buckets since the tops would be the same for the 5 Gallons, i could just transfer the top over after cleaning the bucket of course. You guys think thats a good idea or no?

Yes you can reverse it. I have emailed many Carbon Filter companies, and every single one of them says you can push air into it, instead of pull through it. They said it will reduce the life span about 15-20 percent.

I have mine setup like this

Pull hot air out of the tent here> - =======[COOLTUBE]==============[FAN][CARBON FILTER]

So the fan is pulling air from inside the tent, through the cooltube, through my ducting, into the fan, then into the carbon filter, which then expells clean air. It works fine.

In fact, the suction is so powerful with a 6 inch fan in my 3 X 3 X 5'3" tent, that if the flaps are closed it almost pulls the tent in on itself. It's by FAR more than enough.

Ya I had that same issue with mine, with it pulling in on itself lol. Joe Blow up there brought up the fact taht my ending point was "planned" to be in the attic and it would expell all that up there and out the roof vents. But its going to get hot up there for sure, and i didnt really think about that but that cannot be good for the filter...

Yes, you can reverse it - but they are designed to pull air through the filter.
The prefilter is on the outside; gets any particulates prior to clogging the filter. Also, when pulling air, the dirty air hits the outside of the filter with the largest surface area of carbon (this may result in the loss of life referenced above).
That said, you can reverse it & it will probably work fine.

But the ductwork may be a larger concern.
Most filter manufactures say pull air through, and have as close to fan as possible.
You are going to need a strong fan to push air that far and then go through filter.

Good luck with your grow!
