whats everyones experience with them? will a carbon can filter eliminate 100% of the smell? are there certain can filters that are better than others? i plan to allow the hot exhaust air to run throughout the whole house to minimize heat signature. thanks!

nothing will garauntee 100% but a good fan and filter will remove almost all, add a cpl of air freshners or some 'ona' gel to mask the rest, i understand venting to reduce heat sig but even the best filter will still produce a bit af smell. ive been using carbon cans for years and theyve all been pretty good.

thanks, i remember using a homemade carbon filter bfore and some days i wud ask if a person cud smell weed. some days they cud'nt smell anything and some days they cud . i now assume that it was because the humidity was high sometimes (i heard high humidity causes the filter not to work well). you said your experience using filters was that they dont eliminate smell 100% . by that do you mean some days it wud smell, or everyday you wud notice a faint smell?

in my experience, they remove all most every thing, 99% I don't notice it, only if I had the door open for a few minutes, Ppl seems to be able to smell em, if I had anybody coming over that did`t know and I would like to hide it from I would have some concerns tho, but not from my neighbors and nothing some air fresher couldn't fix, in my opinion, if you smoke inside your house that will be worse ..

hard to say as after ah while you become accustomed to the smell in your own home and yeah the higher the humidity the less it'll work, moisture clogs up the carbon and the particles dont cling to the carbon surface, bit like a sponge full of water wont hold anymore, fine when it dries out though. sum strains also smell stronger than others so that will have an impact too. carbons are the best way to kill the smell ,youve no real option to them, air fresheners are only good as supplementeray odor control and dont tend to last long. i live in a small apartment and with my carbon on you can barely smell anything although i vent to a window, its good enough that when the cops visited me a few months ago they never smelled a thing.

They work for me. My mother in law stood 3 feet from a tent that had near a pound on the stem and she didn't know it was there.
I don't bother with homemade ones.

save up and buy a professional one (don't build one yourself if you are nervous already)
buy one bigger size than you think you really need,

you will pay maybe 50$ extra but that extra peace of mind will be so worth it, plus it may last longer

A key element to a grow as far as I'm concerned. They don't cost much and turn the air in the room every few minutes, but like others have said - nothing is 100% effective against all that stank!
