Cant You Vacuum Distill SUPER PURE Hash Oil?!

Lol well I got plenty of shake sitting around just waiting to be used in these experiments so I'll be attempting to make the chloroform, and that's gonna be my first experiment.
Also I appreciate the heads up about the grease, but what I'm really worried about is if my rotary pump is too strong and if it has a chance of breaking the glassware when it reaches full vacuum, i know it's a kinda silly question but should I be using a hand pump?
I wouldn't really worry about that. Borosilicate glass in a laboratory setting is often referred to as "heavy wall" although sometimes it isn't listed but is still "heavy wall." In general I think it's safe to assume that most laboratory glassware if it's worth anything at all should be able to handle pressure changes even beyond what a simple vacuum can do as in experiments that are more involved with gases primarily. Also, they call the stuff high vacuum grease for a reason and if your set came with a vacuum adapter then the people making it should have ensured it could handle some fairly intense pressure changes. Maybe I'm assuming too much here in general but your glassware looks more professional than mine in my opinion and I wouldn't hesitate to attempt pressures beyond what my water aspirator can provide with my own glassware...

If you mean a hand pump like one would use with a vacuum filtration set, then no way. While those can provide a vacuum, I can get mine all the way to -29hg when filtering other extracts, it's not the kind of vacuum that you'd want in a laboratory experiment beyond just for filtering. One thing that jumps right out at me would be the fact of that type of vacuum hand pump being used would create what is essentially a closed system. You want a way for the air to escape through the vacuum, continuously, if there is any. At least that's my understanding of it. Otherwise, there's potential of explosion through the buildup of gases. I seem to remember watching an old YouTube video from some college in Canada in the 80's, while it was pretty hilarious because of being from the 80's they made mention of not wanting to create a entirely closed system for that reason. I suppose you could attempt to use a hand pump as long as you had a multi-neck flask and used one neck with a gas-inlit with a glass rod spinner-thingy. That would also cut down on any bumping as well though you'll be using a magnetic stirrer anyways. I would just say that you'd have to be pretty fit to keep that vacuum going at a proper pressure continuously. I could be totally wrong about this but when dealing with explosions I try and keep those down to none and air on the side of caution. But I had thoughts of using the vacuum hand pump as well.

I'm curious, is there such an air bleed with your vacuum pump? Like does it seem as though the air would escape through the pump creating the vacuum? That would likely answer your question. If it does, then that means the hand pump is a no go but if it didn't if the air doesn't need to escape then I guess the hand pump would be valid. I have never seen or read anyone using the vacuum hand pump in such a situation which is why I assume what I assume. Hope that helped :)

Alright great, my glassware is pretty thick so I guess I can stop worrying about that I was just concerned with breaking my glassware.
The glassware didn't come with any joint grease but it came with a bunch of keck clips.
I think I'm gonna attempt an acetylation when I have the chemicals I need.
Found this nice concise layout of the acetylation procedure: http://www.rexresearch.com/hhusb/hh6thc.htm#HH64
THC gives an acetate (ATHC) which is as potent as THC. The mental effects are quite subtle and pleasant. Wohlner, et al., prepared ATHC by refluxing the crude distillate of cannabis oil with approximately 3 volumes of acetic anhydride. It is purified by distillation i.v. or with steam.

Cahn prepared ATHC thus: add 150 ml acetyl chloride (dropwise with stirring and cooling) to 185 gr crude resin in 500 ml dry pyridine. Crystals may separate during the addition, or on standing a few hours at room temperature. Pour the mixture into dilute hydrochloric acid/ice. Separate the oil, then dissolve it in ether. Wash this solution with dilute acid, then with aqueous sodium carbonate, and again with water. Dry the solution with calcium chloride. Strip the solvent and distill the residue (240-270 C°/20 mm). The mixture of acetylated cannabinoids is separated by dissolving 2 gr in 100 ml benzene and chromatography over silica (150-200 mesh). Elute with 800 ml benzene. Combine the washings and the original effluent solutions, then strip the benzene i.v. to recover about 60% yield of light yellow oil. The material remaining on the column contains CBD and other cannabinoid acetates which can be recovered with ethanol and worked up.(21)

The clips help with securing the glass pieces to each other but do little to ensure a proper seal between the ground glass joints. I've had my whole apparatus setup & clipped but with no grease and wasn't getting a good enough vacuum so I just kinda reinforced the glass joints into each other. When I got to the joints from the distill column to the condenser my reinforcing helped the joints more properly seal. This, however was not so great as I had turned the heat up to see if that was the issue and now that the system had a better vacuum the ethanol in my boiling flask just went crazy and boiled and jumped through my condenser contaminating my receiving flask big time. It wasn't so bad but had I been using a more dangerous chemical that could've gone badly. Point being though, even with the apparatus fully clipped, you'll still want to use some kind of silicone grease and not Vaseline or anything really except high temperature, non-toxic silicone grease. Or at the very least some kind of heat resistant tape wrapped around the joints. Even with a great vacuum you'll still encounter strange pressure drops or you'll suddenly need to turn the heat up. If you've been boiling something at a steady temp. and then it stops boiling and you turn up the heat, that's most likely because of the joints not being fully sealed and not the vacuum source itself...

Hey just a little steam inspiration for your distilling that you don't have to theorize about but can quantify.
Secret Cup PNW Connoisseur's choice award winning, L.H.O.

0 ppm shatter

not that a dog hair in it can't make you sick, but u know what i mean. You might could dab it
Well it looks like they did the extraction on fresh material considering the majority of the cannabinoids in the extract are THCA, so I'm guessing their process is something like they steam distill fresh material at reduced pressure, so as to keep the THC from decarboxylating during the extraction.
I'm also guessing the ph of the water is a major factor, cool info, I'll definitely try and run some tests when I get a soxhlet.

lol, if I ever make it to the point of breaking vacuum funnels & 1000ml beakers to feel inspired, I'll know I'm living in the salad days to be sure!

As of yet, I'm pretty newb but I do other alchemy with another flower known for treating pain and leave it at that ;)

I'm pretty greenhorn in both respects but am learning as much as I can and have had what I would call, satisfying and exciting results so far. At least enough to obviously keep me still researching and buying new equipment, lol!

But I've done just about everything under the sun and try to live by the saying of one of, if not my main hero in life the good Dr. Hunter S. Thompson which is of coarse, "Buy the ticket, take the ride..." I can't think of any more apt saying to life really it offers a little hope and excitement but makes no apologies or sympathies for your choices. Ah well, that's for another forum as well ha!
ya your using morning glory seeds to be sure, lol

I apologize, I'm kind of drunk and on some other stuff

I intended on leaving y'all alone, but seriously what's the point lol.
why are y'all even attempting to discuss whatever it is your trying to do (which is way beyond both of you)
singling out compounds isn't ideal and its much easier just to make it anyway. if you want a full rounded extract, make pure crystalline hash oil like I do, or copy some patents. just use a quick wash in a polar solvent I mean seriously. 10$ a gallon for what I pay
Well isn't it obvious there not talking about THC at all, or atleast one might be

Go back and look thru all the messages, we've been talking about THC brother.
Discussing advanced techniques that nobody really even wants to read lol.

Well, I'm sitting here at work and it appears a bunch of my stuff has been delivered finally! I think it's my coil condenser for refluxing & vacuum adapter... Could also be that my chemicals arrived as well. Either way I'm going to be refluxing some material I have left over from previous extracts, tonight, in ethanol for 2 hours. If my toluene arrived as well then I'll be defatting late tonight or more likely tomorrow after work again...

I'm extremely excited at this point and I also found a dispensary that's about 1 hour & 30-45 minutes drive away from me that has a CBD dominant strain in-stock! Canna-Tsu! is what it is exactly I seem to recall and judging by some of the results from analytics360 that's usually a great strain for CBD. I'm definitely going to be doing a more "full spectrum" treatment when using CBD meaning I'll still be dabbing my high THC extracts as well. But I really can't wait to try this stuff out both in the chemistry experimentation side but also the effects of CBD dominant extracts, tinctures, etc on my symptoms.

On a sad side note, my mother's dog is going through either cancer or kidney failure and if it's the former I'm going to see if my mom would be willing to try her dog on CBD and see if it does anything for it. It's a mammal and tests were done on bunnies & rats/mice so it seems to me that it would benefit, though I'm unsure just how much depending on how far along the cancer might be at this point.

Idelete, try getting a supplement sugar Called D-manose its for removing the bacteria in the kidneys better than using cranberry which is so high in acid. Then using the rso you can get them to eat again via the munchies. My chihuahua takes 1/4th to 1/2th of a drop of rso daily to keep her eating n urine habits regular so to give the kidney time to flush.

You should really try to convince your mother that not just cbd but a full spectrum extract of plant material of any strain could provide all the immune system support her dog needs to regain her strength and get a foothold on her cancer. I feed my dogs what Is essentially RSO mixed with some omega fatty acids every second meal of the day so they stay in tip top health.
Hope is not all lost for your mothers dog, people have made full recoveries from aggressive forms of cancer using RSO, here's some info on how thc and cbd literally shut down the processes of cancerous cells and causes them to cease growth and even shrink.

Also I'm excited to hear about the results, be sure to post ASAP :D

Thanks for the support and recommendations guys! The lil wiener dog is still at the vet as they're trying to determine which it is, kidney failure or cancer. At this point it doesn't matter which in my opinion but if it is the kidneys then I'll definitely be picking some of that "D-manose" that Saybian recommended over cranberry juice. When I bring up CBD, I'm almost always going to be referring to CBD dominant strains or tinctures but I will always be including a low amount of THC and will increase that amount of THC on a person to person, animal to animal basis as needed. Since I can't isolate cannabinoids just yet everything I make will be considered full spectrum just CBD dominant or that's the plan anyways.

More bad news, my reflux coil condenser did arrive with the 90deg. vacuum adapter, however the coil in the condenser arrived broken and I was sad, lol... I was REALLY wanting to reflux tonight. Damn the man and his sinister reflux coil breaking plans!!!

Well some good news I got in some new kratom that was from a great source online and so now I won't have to be worrying about pain quote as much. What sucks is that damn coil condenser arriving broken like it was... Everything I want to do be it with cannabis or otherwise involves refluxing for a minimum of 2 hours. So, I'm pretty much dead in the water until CTechGlass can hopefully overnite that shit to me or something, 2-day would even be cool. But yeah, just looking at my finely crafted 90 degree vacuum/inlet adapter from the same company makes me *le sigh* about the whole ordeal. Good things come to those who get partially screwed over? I certainly hope so lol

So I picked up some of that CBD only tincture at my local dispense and HOLY SHIT BALLS!!!

I dunno if it was the CBD playing on my kratom tea or if it was my dab'n my usual THC wax but I seem to remember CBD having the ability to mellow out THC's paranoid-harshness. Either way I was on my lunch break from work, at home, luckily and I got a wicked old school panic attack like I used to get when I was a lil teenage greenhorn puffin' on that OC chronic lol... Seriously, hadn't had that happen in a loooooooooooooong time especially with my tolerance at this point.

I'm thinking it was probably the CBD + the kratom that done it but I'll find out for sure after work when I get home tonight. I feel fucking smashingly well so that's cool but wow that lil panic attack was something else...... A quick DuckDuckGo search yields results of products containing both kratom and CBD in one capsule. I don't know if they're just throwing these 2 substances together because they're the new hot shit or what but it does seem to be a *thing* **shrug**

Well I just dosed again CBD + kratom = no panic attack... I wonder if it was just a natural panic attack, I was rushing around in my lunch break but that is normal... I dunno guess I'll see for sure when I dab at home here in a few minutes(end of day at work, yay!)...

I will say that I feel absolutely fucking amazingly great right now and I'm just so happy to have some CBD finally. Now I'm more motivated than ever before to get some of that Canna-Tsu! and start refluxing that and making my own medicine through combinations of that canna-Tsu! and the other THC dominant strains I usually get.... Or perhaps doing all seperatly trying those and then coming up with blends, etc.

That sucks that your piece came broken, but as long as they replace that shit with free overnight shipping then your golden.
On a side note, you mentioned kratom, I've never tried it myself, I'm wondering if kratom would work for migraines because I get cluster headaches from time to time and the only thing that keeps them from constantly coming back is psilo mushrooms but kratom is available on the internet, shrooms are not ;)
I already know that cbd can shut off my headaches, but it's expensive and more like a short term fix, because it's still not as effective as shrooms at that job so I'm wondering how effective kratom alkaloids are for migraines.

Weird about the panic attacks, I've never had one myself, but that's probably because I do a good job at staying calm when I'm playing with hallucinogens.

For sure man, kratom will do the job. Just got my newest batch in from this place: http://kratomdepot.com/ and I'm loving the quality... I like the "red" vein leafs as the "green" leaves are too "up" for me, I like more mellow feels but it's all good...

It's as strong or stronger than poppy pod/straw/seed tea if you need a gauge...
