Cant find Tall net pots (aka) Deep net cups

Standard net pots are as deep as they are wide.

I'm looking for net pots that are twice as deep as they are wide.

I can't find them anywhere and am even considering having them made. (Or build them out of netting and zip ties)

The hydrostore girl and I agree they would be great for DWC. Anything I plant less than 6 inches deep doesn't grow worth a damn.

I'm starting RDWC and would like deeper net pots. Or a equivalent solution

Why? Normal cups work fine and dont robe res space

She does try to trick me and it works sometimes, however, the deep pots would allow for side roots off the stem which is a proven good method in soil.

As follows:

Not being a doubter but i still dont see it.

I would thinkg having a container with media deep in the dwc or undercurrent would
Cause an anerobic condition real similar to when noobs have the water level above the net pot

I have a 10 bucket RDWC in the works for the back patio. I will use 5 regular net pots and 5 deep pots (as soon as I get some assistance with finding or building them) then it'll be settled.

In my experience, The anaerobic root problems originate from the rockwool and/or roots being above water level due to a drop in water level. Stuff like slime grows in conditions such as this due to shallow net pots and/or low water level.

Roll a cylinder out of plastic mesh and you can have a "netpot" that extends all the way down to the floor. Not sure why you`d want / need one but it wouldnt take more than 5 minutes to make.

Any other ideas? I thought of mesh too but it wouldn't be solid enough to hold the plant upright.

use regular net pots with the bottom cut out, and safety fence ( https://www.homedepot.com/p/Tenax-4-ft-x-100-ft-Orange-Guardian-Safety-Barrier-Fence-998044/100384030 ) or something similar attached to it

Two net cups zip tied together with one bottom cut out

could work. i really don't get the whole point, you adjust how far the water is from the bottom of your pots by adding or removing water.....do you think you'll get a bigger root mass with a larger basket?

In soil when I plant 14inch seedlings 10 inches deep they grow monsterly compared to if I plant them shallow, makes me think there is a benefit to side roots

sure there are, and maybe you're on to something. not sure how it'll work, though. seems like the farther the root crown is from the water, the less root growth you'd get. you might want to think wider, instead of deeper?
