lmfao yeah im hoping i got at least decent environment, I have control over humidity, light, nutrients and water ph. the temp is also fine but i can't control it completely like my ventilation is lacking (not great) so i really hope that HPS light doesn't make too much heat for me room /:

I would suggest Ceramic Metal Hylide. I am using a cheap setup that works great. The cost is low. Heat is a few degrees lower and it is easy on the eyes. Full Spectrum Light.

This bulb

This ballast

You can use either vertical or horizontal position, so any reflector would work.

26.95 http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-GLRGW19-Hydroponic-Reflector/dp/B004YXDPPQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-1&keywords=reflector+apollo

or get a better refector. The one I use.

135.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/300957388764?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&var=600147068175&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

It works great and has two positions for the bulb so you can drop it down a little lower. It can cover up to 4ft x 4ft.

For the money its a no brainer.

Hope this helps.

I love it. The reflector is big and covers the tent nicely(4x4). I am going to get another one in a couple of weeks. The 4000K is nice to deal with. The leaves look the correct color. My plants are loving it. I am loving it as well. Its easy on the eyes as well. Its a definite upgrade from my Apollo hps combos. I will never go back.

I wanted A51 xgs190's but the price is too high. I do not regret switching to CMH. I can always upgrade to high quality leds later. For now I have some nice lights for a fraction of the cost.

With that reflector and CMH it is best to get rid of the glass. This will allow more UV light from the full spectrum light to reach the plants. At least that is what I am told. I still have my glass on and it is rocking my plants. Two days after replacing the lights, by buds look like it snowed. A lot more resin than my old HPS. I can only imagine it will get better when I take the glass out. The air cooling will still work as well all the heat goes straight up and into a whole on top where the fan would suck it out.

I just converted to LED. I hear what your saying with wanting to keep the cost down. My first grow I was sayin the exact same thing. If it's something you plan on doing gain, just buy the good stuff the first time around. Trust me, your going to buy the inexpensive stuff, then you will get the grow fever and buy the good stuff later. Skip all the cheaps. I bet everyone here has a cheap pile not being used because they upgraded.
If u buy t5 you will need to buy more lights for flower time. Those g8 LEDs put out every color light the plant wants all the way through its life. U can get a nice red UFO for flower time if u want to supplement. Get some good reflective material to enhance its power. Very low heat and electric consumption. So you will save money in the long run. Don't be afraid of the LEDs!
Also u can get those same g8leds from amazon. Just got mine from there

Your right going cheap and then upgrading is not the best way. I didn't buy the Apollo HPS gear. It was gifted to me. I knew the first day I used it that I would upgrade as soon as possible. The bright orange light is killer on the eyes. The CMH gave me that option sooner rather than later. My room is so much better now that I got rid of the cheap HPS. Cheap CMH is a great option.

If you decide to go with LEDs from the start, I would get A51 SGS160 panel over the G8 LED.
