Cannabutter recipe, new recipe?

I've only made a couple delicious batches of butter, and I sure want to make sure I'm doing it the best I can!

Recently I read this in a recipe:

"step 5: add weed, stir, heat on low, stirring occasionally for 1-2 hours
step 6: cool up to 8 hoursandrepeat heating/cooling process 2 moretimes."

Seems like Overkill to me. Maybe even harmful to the butter. Any input appreciated! Thanks.

6 hours on low heat will decarb it just fine if you can get into the correct temperature range.... you could decarb in the oven first though then the heating process is really just binding the cannabinoids to the fats in the butter. I've done it both ways. No noticeable difference.
