can you tell the difference between MH buds and HPs Buds?

no i got the day off work, everyone is out, i'm home all alone i played burnout a bit this morning, but i gotta say i'm a bit bored
I know the feeling all to well , I started reading this thread at noon EST and here we all still are, there are just too many veriables to any one grow to say anyone meathod is best, shit I stopped one once to split into two main kolas and trained the two a little less then 2 feet each oppisit direction s and hung a 4 foot t12 and inch over the top and built a super slim grow box around it , I had nice results , gunna try again when i get to Portland, but with t5s don't waste your whole day off on the comp., go get blazed and watch stupid people do stuff downdown random people watching stoned is great , like watching a nature show:leaf:

if i had a single cfl that matched the spectrum of the sun i would grow super potent buds, i would only get a gram of it, but it would be super potent

intensity effects size not potency, in fact intensity has an adverse effect on potency, why else do you dry your weed in a dark place?
Cfls can you if you hang them like Xmas ornaments all up close and personal, I live in a prohibition state, so i know , I also run 8 -70w hps 4 -175mh and I have over 57 cfl bulbs fixtures , shop tubes and t8s and ghetto rigged devices I use so many combinations its crazy , I just try to give them love, snacks and all sorts of varity of light options . Im not a set it and forget it kinda guy I asses the exact needs every day and move shit re hang stuff turn stuf fuck i practicly preform cunningligus on the girls , and you know what they say about talking to your plants , well i do that too breath all over them , I read books in my closet with sun glasses on , and breath co2 all over the shit.
any how best of luck to all you guy what ever you choose to do !!

seemorebuds where are you please pop your head in on this thread!!!!!!!:joint::cry:please help!!

Yo laserbrn I keep my lights about 2-3 inches away from the tops of my plants 2 ..I jus give em a 360 turn everytime they wake up...I don't noe if this hurts the plants but sure looks like it does more good than harm

your girls do a little turn on the cat walk ? huh
try 180

MH - better quality, smaller buds much healthier looking fan leaves.
HPS - dense buds, bigger buds, taller plant

Both is ideal

Infrared sparks flowering, preflowers grow extremely fast

The output of a 400 watt incandescent bulb is about 25 watts of light, a 400 watt metal halide bulb emits about 140 watts of light. If PAR is considered to correspond more or less to the visible region, then a 400 watt metal halide lamp provides about 140 watts of PAR. A 400 watt HPS lamps has less PAR, typically 120 to 128 watts, but because the light is yellow it is rated at higher lumens (for the human eye).

Color Rendering Index
In general, CRI is a numeric indication of a lamp's ability to render individual colors accurately. The CRI value comes from a comparison of the lamp's spectral distribution to the standard (e.g. a black body or the daytime sky) at the same color temperature. The higher the CRI the more natural and vibrant the colors will look. A bulb with a CRI of 85 or higher is excellent being that the sun has a CRI of 100. Eye Hortilux makes 90 -92 CRI bulbs that are used in aquarium, horticulture and other applications.
Color Shift and Variation
Different colors are produced in metal halide lamps by using various arc tube shapes and metal halide salts. In new lamps these halides need to "burn-in" for approximately 100 hours before they reach their optimum color. This is why new lamps can sometimes be unstable or vary in color.

a mh halide as a cri of around 85 a hps has a cri of 24

hps isn't so good for veg, i don't get anywhere near as tight node spacing with a hps as i do with a mh
I never got the goal of why people wanted tight node space....really its newbie thing I just never had it explained to me...maybe I could turn around and agree with you...most my info came from reading ed rosethanol literature

cfls due emitt UVB..so throwing a 6500k bulb would help..how much..I dont know

if you think about it if light only penetrates so far on the plant, if you have more bud sites within that range then surely your going to get bigger denser buds

i found that the bud i got from the mh was more potent,

i found that the bud i got from hps was slightly more dense

i found that mixing the two together kicks ass
Damn am I late to this party or what?
easygrinder - I agree with you regarding your first 2 statements 100%. I've come to the same conclusions.
You have inspired me to try mixing the 2 together though.
I'd never thought to do that before.
+rep for the inspiration, bro

Wow, there is so much information regarding cultivation that it's difficult for someone new to even get started.

I started with 6 super stretched plants that were given to me. They were vegged under a 6ft high HPS with 35 other plants and given generic bloom nutes. I took them home and have cared for them for 2 weeks. They had 1 week of flower under a 1000w HPS before I got them then I had 6 plants under a 400w MH then added in a 200w 6500k CFL. Now they are under a 400w HPS with the 200w cfl and Fox Farm Grow Big,Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom.

when I got them...

Today

I think I've done a pretty good job for a newb nursing these things ino decent plants but therre is SO much information and different opinions on this site that it makes it VERY difficult to pick out what to do and what not to.

I don't even know what kind of yield to expect. If I'll have popcorn buds or if they will get bigger at the bottom of plants or even if my nutes are working.

I guess when it comes down to it you just try the suggestions of people who seem to know what they are doing and pray.:-D

If I get 3 oz all of them together I'll be really excited. Thanks for the encouragement. I just can't wait to see how much more they will beef out with 6 more weeks of flower and switching to the HPS.

this shit is addicting as hell.

and double posting the same message. You must have some good shit..lol:blsmoke:
You have done a very good job for a new grower. I don't know what I would have done if someone gave me those plants, probably would've cut them up, cloned them and flowered the clones, but that's what I always do.

As long as your light id down now I don't see that your yeild will be too bad, I think you'll still be able to get that 3oz mark. You got six plants there so we're aiming for 1/2 oz each? I don't think that's out of reach.

Thanks a lot man, Once I get close to harvest I'll update.

don't get me wrong though i like the qualities of both bulbs, which is why use both in veg and bloom
Using both is fine, but don't go telling folks the MH is better than a HPS for flowering. There are tons of threads showing that it isn't. I've done it both ways and flowering with an HPS produces way bigger, stickier buds and more of them. -rep

Ahh man, c'mon. This turned into a grow log, and that's just a great way for this to end. We don't need to bring back the debate.

someone else who clearly has reading difficulties, go back over the thread and "read" it,

don't just read odd words here and there to make it sound the way you want
