Can you LST and SCROG a autoflower strain?

I was wondering how would you know when to SCROG or FIM an autoflowering strain? I've never grown one, but im worried that with LST i might SCROG it too late. If im LSTing the buds flat, then they will be growing at different rates.. So will i be SCROGing each bud at a different time?

Sorry if my post is confusing im having a hard time thinking right now (;

Also SCROG is the same thing as FIM, right? >_> furthermore do we not have a guide to LSTing on this site?

I would not scrog autoflowering plant. they do not have a long enough veg period. you can tie her down abit i guess and help the lower bud sites. but with auto's i just let them do their thing man. Also i woundnt transplant them. plant the seed in the container you will be using the rest of the grow. i have 3 gallon pots. Autos can be very sensitive plants but also very fast ones.

FIMMING and scrog are not the same Fimming is a topping method and scrog is using a sceen to maximize light on the tops of the plants. Here is you tube instructional vid on LST. I prefer to use bamboo skewers rather than twist ties or string. This lowers the risk of damaging the stalks by having something constricting or cutting into them. I have also included a pic of my method.

No topping either man, i kno theres so much u hear about when u read about growing and so many ways to maximize yield but you got autoflowering plants. no photos. the only thing u should do if you are thinking about anything that has to do with lst is just tie her down abit. thats all. worst thing you can do is top and auto plant and ruin everything you just worked hard for.

sorry to bring up an old thread but its one of the top results on google for scrog autoflowers. This may be of interest to some of you!

http://www.dutch-passion.nl/en/news-and-development/Dutch-Passion-Think-Different-grow-by-Tavid/

Im going to attempt it myself, dont see any harm at all in using a scrog considering you grow the plant into it, rather then bending it when its gets a certain height. maybe a few weeks into flowering i'd stop feeding it through the scrog and let it grow naturally to get a nice even canopy

I was surfing thru because I am looking to start using the scrog method. I am about a week or two out from flowering, and I am growing in a stealth cabinet. it makes sense to give sog a try, I like the idea of maximizing my yield, who wouldn't! anyway....
like I said, my plants are just under 2 weeks from flower, Is this the time I would put up my screen? its almost to the height that I want it to be at...so I am guessing that's the right time to put it up....
also, I watched a vid on it, so, if I am understanding this, (please, correct me if I am wrong) I put up the screen, and when it grows thru the screen, I just tie it down horizontally...my question is, at what point do you stop tying it down, and just let it grow vertical? I am hazy on that....
this is probably one of those things, that make perfect sense when you actually SEE it going on, rather then trying to imagine it....
really tho, any input/advice for me would be much appreciated you guys. hope someone sees my post, seeings how this thread is years old....

Hi, i don't tie it down I tuck it under the net. With autoflowering plants this is my first try but i did a few regulars this way it always turns out great, but i recommend a flexible net because there's a good chance that you will break a few stems if it's not and you need to check on it every day. I recommend hygrohybrid's channel on youtube his older videos are great for learning the new ones are for more advanced growers, he's doing a web page too but it isn't done yet.(www.hygrohybrid.com)
Hope I could help and keep on growing!
PS.: I read that you should stop scroging in the first or second week of blooming with autos but no personal experiences yet.

U could never get a good scrog with autos unless u had say 6 plants in a small area
Lst u can definitely do and I recommend it before the plant starts to bud its very easy to bend with out dmg and u will and can increase your plant size here a pic of a auto lst I tied main cola right over and let other colas catch up only did his till flowering kicked in look this 6 weeks old 3 weeks into flowering20140622_170744.jpg 20140622_170753.jpg
Tho u really need do your research in how to grow autos 1 mistake and u can fck it up big time even the tinyest error during veg will massively decrease yield and size I have 5 growing and I fucked 1 up big time I reakon off my bad plant ill be lucky yo get 4 grams dry

very nice man...and thanks for the info, I decided just to lst' her. actually, I know I wasn't supposed to, but I like to break the mold and try shit, so I topped her very early on, and started lsting her....man, I got such a nice even canopy, I think my yield is gonna be great. I plan to scrog the photoperiods I got lined up. thanks again guys.

What were your results with this in the end?? Did the lady have time to recover well?

Looks like you found your answer, but the less you mess with an auto the better. I do like to LST them though. I just like a nice canopy and good light penetration.

where did he find his answer? dude the results were amazing. I grow small time, usually one at a time, in a secluded box, so height limitations, and all that do weaken my yield, but as far as topping her, she did just fine, and the final yield was great as well. I will continue to top every auto I get my hands on, until I see with my own eyes that it is harmful, and as of yet, my eyes haven't seen anything like that. don't believe everything you hear. g'dluck and happy growing my friend

There are a few methods you can do to get into scrog, the step by steps and technical details of any method will be too long to mention. You can veg into your screen or you do the method that I do, I do fimming and topping, LST/Supercropping all through the veg period and then move the girl into the flower room and let her setting in for a few days to adjust to any transition, then I put the screen on top and start weaving the limbs into the screen over the next week (give or take a few days), then I climb under and clean all the leaves and small budding points that do not touch any light from the under side. After that its basically just look after her feeding/watering schedule until harvest

well, that'd be just about where I am right now on this critical sensi star....I just am not clear on what to use for a screen....any ideas? I have heard just tying string works, but that seems tedious to me....I have yet to scrog tho, but I am still open to the idea....

There is no "one-way" as the internet is full of innovative ideas. What I do is a 4' x 4' square for soil or coco, or a 5' x 5' for DWC, made out of PVC with self tapping screws every 4 inches all the way around, and then I weave some bright coloured builders string back and forth between the screws.

if you get 8 x 3way PVC connectors you can make a stand with a base the same size as the top screen, keep a handful of straight couplings and keep some various lengths of scrap PVC pipe so that you can adjust the height to your plant. Ideally you want it about 10-12 inches from the base of the plant, some will argue this height so its entirely what works for you and what your comfortable workig under to clean out all the under growth on the plant

Here is my autoflower Amphetamine, she is 33 days old from seed. I am growing in a custom DWC with chiller.
Water temps are 65 degrees and room temperature is 78 to 81 degrees with the light on ( 450 w LED) .
The SCROG NET is 12 inches from the top of the resivior (27 gallon tote).
I have let the plant grow up to it but have given the outer 14 bud terminals mild LST.
She is still in the veg but has shown sex (female). I will continue to veg her until she stops vertical growth and begins her natural budding cycle.
Don't cheat yourself and switch to flowering nurse to early. And easy on the LST.
She wants to grow ! So let her.
