Can you graft bud onto any legal plants?

But if you did graft onto a hops plant would you have a larger yield because i know hops have massive roots and are perennial.
Massive root systems will be on an established plant at least 2 years old. That root system will very much still want to be Hops... sending off dozens {if not hundreds} of new shoots. The Shoots or Culms look very much like Asparagus when they are 1-3" tall... and taste like Asparagus x10 times better. Keeping up, and weeding them out is no mean feat. An optimistic pharmer might see the first set of leaves... palmate, serrated and very much marijuana looking... and be very disappointed when they let them grow the next sets of leafs.

It could go one of two ways... the marijuana part takes off like a vine and gets 10-30ft long .... OR your little 6" graft is pushed forward, a wee 6" tip on a 10-30ft long vine.

IF you get a Hops vine from a nursery, it is likely ornamental only .... and it is also likely a MALE. {all 3 I got from 2 different nurserys were male} Perhaps this may pose its own problems. IF you get a root/ rhizome from Fresh Hops nursery {the only place I know of to get prime female roots of a known strain} you will have to grow it out for a couple years before you have a massive root system. The Rhizomes I got from Fresh Hops were about as big as my finger... so obviously its gonna be a while.
