Can pollen be stored? How? And how long will it remain viable?

LOL I guess the title says it all!

I have a male plant and normally I cull them, but this one is a really nice male and it comes from good lineage (Mazar-I-Sharif X Purple Kush) -a pure Indica hybrid!

I've never done any breeding as such and thought I might try letting it flower out to the point I can harvest the male flowers and save some of the pollen and maybe dust a few buds to make some seeds....but how?

Oh yeah...I would also like to find out WHEN to dust the female flowers so that they have enough time to fully ripen the seeds.

Thanks!

So I've heard some say years in freezer I've heard most say 6months to 12 in fridge the number 1 thing is tho need to have silica packs. Moisture deactivates the pollen as far as what I do I keep in fridge I reckin when it gets close to 6 months if not used all I'll put new silica pack and freezer it.

I dry my pollen under the lights until the sacks are crispy, then i add a dissent pack in and freeze it, I have used it 6-7months later without issue, you can cut with slightly toasted flour to get more out of it, do not cut it and then freeze it though only freeze pure pollen. Flour will moisture up quickly in the freezer and screw you pollen.

Ok...I take tinfoil and sread it out with a crease to catch the pollen and upend the male plant to dump all pods and pollens onto it to collect it...I then dry it....store it in these hemp bags (not plastic like) and I have a drawer in a desk in a temp controlled room...0% humidity and I have successfully used it 1.5 years later and soon will see if it goes 3 yrs.

i just successfully impregnated two plants with pollen that is over 3 years old. here is the method i used.

collected
air dried for 24 hours
wrapped construction paper folded envelopes (small for future individual uses)
placed in airtight mason jar
placed in freezer.

when i retrieve a packet of pollen for use i open the jar get one, close it and put it right back in the freezer.

i was really wondering if this pollen would be good as i haven't used any in 2 years. both strains i have stored (blue moonshine and sour diesel ) are viable. very nice !!!! i have bogglegum, mk ultra and ghost train haze coming up. gonna make some new strains !!!!
