Yes. This is a very good strategy too.

You can take 1-2 clones, flower the mother while vegging the clones to be the next mother.

ah, so dont keep a mother constantly going for years in veg, just keep let clones become moms for a while until well vegged, take cuttings, flower mum. cool.

If u find a strain u want to keep for a long time I'd suggest keeping the mother as long as possible. Every time u clone the genetics weaken a tiny bit. Can lead to hermaphrodite and mutations after a long time of copying a copy

Not just hermaphrodites and other actual plant problems, but also after a while just a dimished effect while the bud and the trichomes look beautiful the effect will be boring. You've all smoked that beautiful bud that just didn't do the trick...

I had a strain for around 2yrs, kept rockin copy of a copy, I killed her off about 3months ago... Was gettin far too stretchy, with small yields, and was becoming super weak to pests.... It was becoming work just keeping them alive, but the genetics are irreplaceable, So was was very unwilling to give her up.... bitch smelled n tasted like cap'n crunchberries and had a great high energy but focused buzz to it...

I gotta get me a quarantine room for breeding :( Dying to play around with that, but refuse to risk males at all in my limited grow space... must build a cab grow on the other side of the house....

Downside to doing this is that if you have a power outage you stand a better chance of losing your mothers. My last setup as well as my new one has small mums in soil under T5s. In the case of a disaster or a long outage and you lose a crop, you still have the mothers safe.

Or have a generator I guess

Cool concept. Not my thing and I don't agree with it but it was a VERY interesting read.
