Can cloning gel get contaminanted?

I use root tech cloning gel and I just dip the cuttings right in the gel. Then say a month later I use the same root tech gel and dip another batch in there. Should I be doing this? Can it get contaminated and make the clones not root??

I think it’s one of those things. Everyone says you’re not supposed to dip in the jar because of contamination but I’ve seen many do it. Personally I don’t because as a chef I’m paranoid about that sort of thing.
Maybe you could transfer pm or a pest of some kind into or onto the cloning jar itself and then you start spreading that to every new clone. Could be bad.

You don’t need rooting gels. Big scam for growshops across the country along with that micro BS they talk about. They are getting rich off dumb growers.

I run a diy aerocloner and I put the gel in a shot glass as stated. After I’m done I rinse the shot glass off in the reservoir.

I’ve been cloning for years...probably almost a decade. I used to be all paranoid about being perfectly sterile and makeing sure it’s a like a lab. Years later I don’t clean my siccors, always dip in the same container as the gel is stored and always get 98% cloning success. The one thing I will say:

1. Always take cuttings from a watered plant, I water mine in the morning and take cuttings that night

2. Don’t over soak the rockwool -if that’s what your using
