Jumbo,

Experimenting is a good thing, but somehow i can't see how cutting off the plants factories and storage batteries is going to help it produce better buds. I can see why people would feel that cutting off all the extra leaves would force the plant to put all its effort into bud production, but what they aren't considering is that 90% of the work takes place in the fan leaves, so by cutting them off you are reducing the plants ability to produce buds. As for resin production, I can see how that would be increased, because many plants secrete resins to seal and protect torn and damaged tissue during healing, but the resin your getting probably isn't going to be the kind you wanted.

well from what my friend explained, cutting the fan leav in half inst wasting much stored energy. it makes the plants use all of the energy in the leave quicker because its damaged, and on the lower part of the plant so it doesnt waste energy fixing it.

yea i understand what your saying totaly, but this plants hasnt really grown ina few weeks. kinda jus taking up room under my lights ya kno. ima try it  wutever happens, happens. ill still b happy smoking wutever comes off it ya kno lol

Ah, ok, so your talking about selectively cutting lower leaves to force the plant to suck the energy out of them and discard them quicker then it normally would. I suppose that could work, though it still seems like it would add some stress to the plant, and could make it more susceptible to disease or insects.

Jumbo,

I get you. I'm just getting to the point where I have enough extra plants available to really start experimenting, so I'm still used to needing to be really cautious about what I do with my plants. I'm sure a month or two from now when I've started harvesting every two weeks and never need to worry about running out of smoke that I'll be a lot more willing to risk losing a plant then I am now. :)

im ugrading to 1000 watters tomorrow morning so im kinda jus excited to get the new strain n clones going =]

heyy man, my USB cord isnt working. dunno wuts wrong wit it. but wut do yall think of sending a few plant pics from a verizon phone?? couple people told me its chill, in the contract it clearly states no photos are admisable in court unless they are threatening, or endangering somebodys well being. it still seems sketchy to me. iv never read tht ina phone contract... lol
ne body here send pics from phones to RIU?

dude, if your worried about, then dont do it. you will just be worried sick!!

my take is, if they wanted me they would get me, probably you too. they have your email on this site. that email may be tied to you personally, or the information you used to setup that email may be able to tie them to you. point being, if they want you, they will get you.

i would do it myself, but the phones sucks for posting.

With the advent of picture phones the new contracts are written to reduce liability to the provider and warn users of possible legal problems that may inccur, but my advice has always been DO NOT use pics taken by a cellphone as they have GPS data in em that identifies WHERE they were taken

lets put it this way, a few years back when america was run by republicans the government asked many companies to give them information in reguards to "national security" Most companies including verizon complied, however Google did not comply. It was sorta a big deal because it showed the true colors of companies. Verizon was willing to just hand over peoples personal information on pretty much false pretenses. Also by law growing cannibus is endangering someones well being. That is gay i know but its that way in the law.

Hey riddleme, I got another question about your technique. You said that when you flush your plants they are going to "sleep." Does this then mean you should flush ur plants just before the lights go off? So they recover overnight then wick the next morning like mad? or should I do it like normal right when lights turn on?

I always do it 1 hour after LIGHTS ON

why do you talk about using a CFL at the beginning and then say to use a CMH at the end?
Because I'm all about personal medical grows and wanted to show everyone that it is possible to get good results using cfl's, now that I've done that I prefer CMH so will be switching, not trying to confuse anyone

oh ok got ya. i am just starting out with CFL's. they are all i can really use cause im affraid of too much heat and electric bill. I grow in a closet so ventilation is a problem for high-heat bulbs.

The One,

Heat is a legitimate issue, but the cost to run a single 400w HID should be less then $15 a month when your running it 18/6 and less then $10 when you go to 12/12. Where it starts to get expensive is when your running multiple lights, fans, exhausts, etc.

They said the blog thingy is where grow journals are heading so I figured I'd play with it

everyone else should as well (if your planning a journal )

Well, it's harvest time for the remainder of the Opiums tomorrow morning, and I'm going to Tom Sawyer it. I've done all the harvesting myself up to now and have my sister/brother in law so anxious to be allowed to get involved that I'm going to get to sit back and supervise while they do all the work. :bigjoint:
I'm a bit disappointed with the grow in general, but I guess i can't complain much because I did better then a lot of people do on their first grow (i.e. I didn't lose a single plant and I actually got a harvest out of all of them). The blueberry grow continues to go really well, and the second set thats rotated into flowering is starting to put on a lot of growth, even the one that got nailed by the light. It still looks kind of funky since it's missing branches down one entire section, and is developing a definate lean to the opposite side, but I think she's going to recover enough to make it through flowering.

Riddle, got a question about the CMH's. Do they fit the standard 600w/400w HPS ballasts, or do you have to get some sort of a conversion socket for them? I know the MH bulbs I use are actually conversions that fit an HPS ballast, and that you can't just plug any MH into my ballasts and have them work (well, they might work, but the lights going to blow sooner and won't put out it's rated lumens).
