Cafe Politics: Name Calling and/or General Rude Behavior

I'm surprised this is not in an acceptable use policy statement which a member would have to agree to for use. One would think it would make sense considering the global audience, and applied site wide.

I am proud that some one has noticed that this is a problem, however odd it continues. Is there at some point consequences stronger then warnings for continued inappropriate acts?

What saddens me is some of the worst offenders are "Well-Know Members". I've seen better behavior from school children.

No doubt about it...those children were privately educated..! we did have a member here by the name of Jesus of Nazareth, the most opinated member ever,
Mods crucified him, he is still well spoken of in circles...?

There are ramifications for violating the tos - stern notes (PM's) from the hall monitor, warnings from same and banning are some of the tools in the box.
We try and be fair about this, but of course not all will agree with mod decisions.

guys will just come back as new members. free speech matters or is everyone so thin skinned these days?
We in fact can cross check ip addresses, if a problem member shows back up under an assumed name it is easily identified and dealt with.
Freedom of speech is very important to us and we definitely attempt to afford leeway, however once the conversation crosses over into personal attack and name calling the gloves come off & Mod's are allowed to use their best discretion.

The system works pretty well but if one thinks it's bias or not fair, I suggest you come and sit on the fence with us - it's not as easy as you may think.

Maybe you would like to point out some of these malicious characters that you feel should be punished?
I thought everyone knew! They are the ones that are calling people names, and being rude. I'm sure you have replied to them.

RIU literally allows white supremacists, holocaust deniers, white nationalists, and white separatists on this forum.

so there's definitely gonna be some discord, since stoners come in all colors and religions.
