Buying used fluorescent shop light fixtures?

So, I came across a CL ad where a guy is selling dozens of light fixtures for 30 dollars a piece. From what I can tell these things retailed for upwards of $200. They're 4' 6 lamp @32 watts for 192 input watts. The lamps come with the fixtures (F32T8 5000K) and are claimed to all be working. Here is the spec sheet for them http://www.ilp-inc.com/product-category/fluorescent/flu-high-bays/himalayan-2/

Anyone have any experience buying used lighting equipment? Is it advisable? Is it a good deal? I was considering buying a couple even though I don't need them quite yet. Might save me some money down the road. Wanted to get some wisdom from here first. Thanks.

yeah more expeience that I care to admit

these are great for seedling and early vegging

I have used the T8's for many complete grows (1970-1980s)

the K5000 /5000 kelvin light color of the tube it emits

needs to be diluted with warm whites at about 2700 kelvin

so you are shinging a 50/50 mix of cool whites and warm whites on your plants

these tubes have very little penertration so they need to be with in 1-2 inches of the leaf tip

later once they are at 12-18 inches tall you can remove all lower growth

to take the cutts as clones also improves venting

IMO remove the wire rack hang on counterweights in ur 4ft closet

great for autoflowers include a temp gauge and small fan

good luck
