Final decisions in,

I bought a temporary fix

An 18000 but window unit, it runs on 110. I'm going to deticate a socket to it.

Now, I'm guessing this will allow me to run 4 lights, it may not give me full control but it will definitely keep things in order...

Anybody think I can run 6 lol..?

Heh. About 5 years ago I got an Ice Box and used it to air condition a grow tent. I had purchased an unconventional chiller very cheaply on ebay and hooked it up to the heat exchanger. Worked fine. I still have the chiller but not the Ice Box.

You will need two of those to run four nonaircooled lights in the summer.

I routed in air from outside for the first time ever while I seal ac and install and I'm glad I did, I thought it was going to be too cold but my rooms at 65-70 degrees steady with two lights on. I have to wear a sweater as its chillier than the rest of my house...

I just need to get by until June. I live in cold climate, its below 70 outside until June 1st usually. After that I'm moving and getting mini split.

I was told 4000 btu per air cooled, 6000 btu per open wing for full control.

So I should be able to run at least three. Right??? All four if I buy cooled reflectors for summer.

As I'm going to have to finish one here while starting one there, not sure how it'll play out yet.

Idk, i only know one way to do things, err on the side of caution, not stand as close to the edge as you can. I just saw the after of a garden with impropper heating and airflow max out a 120degree outdoor thermometer because the a/cs tripped the breaker. If you think you got this then sure, i hope you got this. Only one way to test it out, run all four lights and see what happens right? Even without the plants in there to test it. Then cut your intake fan down to half speed as if it were the middle of summer and it was 90 degrees outside and see if you still got it.

I have ran four air cooled 1000's during 70 degree night time temps with 2 8000 BTU window units. Of course this was in a basement though so my situation may not be the same as yours. I would splurge for the mini if you plan to expand. If you're just sticking with 6-8kW, throw another window AC in there that is also 18000 btu and you will be able to run possibly 8k bare bulb if your outdoor temps are low enough. If you aren't sure of your self, stick with the 4000btu/air-cooled-1000 and 6000btu/open bulb. There are so many variables at play that it's hard to say it will or will not work. I personally believe it will work but thats a big call to make and alot of money potential squandered on stuff that doesnt get you where you need to be.

If u have the money to do it, go mini-split, you will never regret it...

that said, my next room will have a PTAC sleeve mounted in the wall, but I work at a hotel, and can get a great deal if I am willing to replace a few bits on one :)

I was only planning on running 3_4 lights... I figured my gpw would just fall off if I do more, then again, I only pay 7¢ per kW so how gives a shit. I can run five lights for $130 month...

I dunno, there still seedlings so I'm in no rush... Well I kinda am, I lost my last harvest to a mix calibrated pH meter... The struggle is real haha

But yeah, its very cold here, only months its above 75_80 are July and august in some days that even questionable.

Now, you say guys speak of a split ac, you mean like the one outside your home?

I google them and they look a bit different I just think the designs have changed over time but correct me if I'm wrong...

If that's the case, I'll just go unhook my dads, he wont miss it until July, by then, I'll put it back and buy a new one for new house haha...

Oh, really? That outside air temperature can be put to good use inside... but then I'm a heretic: I use a water chilling system. It cools my RDWC, my room air and dehumidifies all at once. The chiller can be a long ways from the grow because cold water travels well. The chiller exhaust will never smell like weed like, yes, AC can. The capper is that a compressorless chiller outside can take advantage of cold outdoor temps at night or during cool weather and capacity can be very cheaply built.

Visit your local junkyard for a radiator.

Depends on how you set it up. That video is idiotic, but water chilling can be highly efficient and effective if properly designed and installed... which probably means you want to leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Hydro Innovations doesn't even exist anymore.

Ice boxes cooling air cooled hoods are the stupidest thing ever, true. But tossing the water chilling baby out with the Hydro Innovations bathwater ignores plenty of well proven physics- and how do you think skyscrapers are cooled, anyway?

That said, minisplits are harder for the average pot grower to screw up.

I seen a video on dehumidifiers, just connect and drain the coil to water, that simple... He said it keeps his water at 60... More efficient than a small chiller.

Any experience?

I know what you have. No. That isn't your only option. Just run 2 lights. If you aren't harvesting 4lbs off 2 lights then you shouldn't upgrade to 5 lights.
That's more reason to add lights if this is his lively hood and not a hobby. If adding lights is going to increase his profits in the short term then he should do it.

Temps of 90 degrees are PREFERRED when using Co2 because it increases metabolism, but of course you MUST keep Co2 levels up or the benefit will diminish and the plants will start to stress from the high temps. Basically, the high temps allow the plants to actually use all that Co2, otherwise if your temps arent 80-90 degrees, the extra Co2 is just wasted.
