Bud Pruning

Everyone is familiar with branch tip pruning to cause more branching but I've tried pruning the tips of developing buds several weeks into flowering and what happened was that the budlets under the tip, which would normally have stayed short hugging the main stem, grow out into long buds themselves. I never actually did a controlled study to see how much the yield changed, if at all. It might be something for people to try though. Could be an increase in yield. You wouldn't have the giant main buds llike usual but those are really just a bunch of small buds with a big piece of stalk in the middle of them anyway. It also keeps the plants lower.

Oh, I thought I invented bud pruning. Oh well, good to know it's a great way to stress my plants out. They deserve it. Li'l buggers. But like I said, large buds are really just a bunch of small buds attached to a big piece of stalk. I always trim them down to pure bud by clipping those off until I get to the last small bud, which is the apex. Dunno why other people like their buds on a stick. I clean it down to pure flowers as I described and then compress them into a nice little brick, like 6"x4"x1" when dry. The whole thing is smokable since there's no stalk whatsoever. You just break a little piece off and crumble it up and smoke it.

Needless to say, I also extract the the resin from the trimmings, mix it with just enough alcohol and absorb it into the brick and dry it out in a microwave, like 30 seconds at a time, turning it back and forth so the alcohol doesn't pool on one side of it. The microwave drying also decarboxylates the THC-A to active THC, I'm guessing. One fool smoked a normal size joint of it and went into convulsions. Just couldn't handle his superbrickweed I guess. That's how you make super bud brickweed. It's about halfway between bud and hash. Of course you'll say it's crude but nonetheless it makes a good product which is not weak like plain bud and easier to smoke than hash.

I should mention that I leave the dried brick sitting out in the air overnight to absorb mositure from the air, otherwise it's too crispy. I also spray the buds with water to moisten them up before compressing them into the brick initially and I dry the brick in the microwave, like I do after soaking it in resin solution. At first, the moist bud brick expands in the microwave from the steam, but as it dries it pulls back into a nice uniform brick. Sweet, sweet resin soaked bud brick, oh yeah. Just like grandma useta make.

Dude, don't smoke alcohol.
Yeah, that's why I dry the alcohol off in the mic. You could dry it at room temp if you wanted, just take longer. Seriously, super bud brick is sweet. When you crumble it up you can feel the resin. It's horrendously potent but not for the fainthearted. I only use isopropyl alcohol, of course, because you don't want methanol fumes around, being quite toxic.

So drying bud soaked in isopropyl in a microwave is safe? Who would have thought lol. Cant see that it would increase potency though. Sounds like the lambs-breath I smoked in the early 80's though. Extremely hard pressed but done for shipping, not for potency.

this is why i hesitate every time i get passed a bowl or a joint somewhere... people like you. no offense to you, i'm just saying.
I have a couple brothers living on a farm close to me with whom I have been getting high with for a couple decades. Now that I am growing such tasty stuff I have a hard time choking down theirs when they pull it out. They are not privy to my grow but I have fed them gifts of mine in lieu of something or another but partly hoping they pull my stuff out when I stop by. Of course, I try to beat them to the punch with my own, but they always want to reciprocate with something. Yes, I have become a weed snob. :)

My mom was an avid rose gardener and she cut off smaller buds all the time to increase the size of the main ones. And yes, you are smoking alcohol.

Man. Just make iso shatter with your trim, same process for the most part excluding the microwave and bricking. Let that shit evap beyond what you think is ready. Scrape it all to the center of your dish and carefully melt it together. It's easier than what youre doing and much safer/cleaner.
