bubbleponics cloner questions Pls Help!

Hello there fellow stoners,
I am having probs with a bubbleponics machine i bought, IT WONT CLONE! and as far as i know i am doing everything i can to get this machine to work! My water level is right to the bottom of the cups, soaked rockwool and got the access water out of them, nice 45 cut, clonex rooting gel, water temp is at 70 degrees, has a 5 inch airstone, that seems to be working ok, kinda suprised it dont put out as many bubbles as i thought it would, but it is working! I am useing strait water, with 2 drops of superthrive for about 3 gallons of water. i have lost 35 out of 36 cuttings and have done lost my mind over it! Does anyone have any ideas of what is going on , or what i am doing wrong? I have done everything...and am about to smash it!! its fucking my crops up, i can't keep losing cuttings like this. If you have any suggestions pls. send em my way.

Rockwool too wet rotting stem? They all actually died, not just didn't root? Over what period of time?

I made my own bubble cloner, I don't use rockwool though, just hang the bare stem in there. You can get those neoprene pucks to hold them in, but I just use wrapped up pipe insulation from the hardware store. Also seen other use that foam pool noodle things chopped up. (the neoprene pucks are kind of a rip-off)

I'd ditch the rockwool.

When cloning with bubbleponics as opposed to using a feeder tube and water pump, the idea is for the splashes from the bubbles to gently wet the rockwool and pebbles. First off fill the tank with water and get the airpump going, if you hold your hand above the water, you should be able to feel tiny little splashes of water on your skin as the bubbles hit the surface. It by no means has to be a frothing cauldron, but you need to be able to feel these bubbles or see them, those are what wets the rockwool. Use an empty rockwool cube as a benchmark, and run the system with the cube in for a day or so, the cube wants to be moist but not soaking, if you squeeze two oposing corners gently it should drip, but not pour out, it needs oxygen in there. So if you've been running it for a bit and the rockwool is too etc, drop the water level a little (stick a ruler in there, make notes of what level works best for future use) or lower the power of the airpump if that is an option. If it's not wet enough, raise the water or increase the amount of bubbles. While not always needed, a humidity dome is also useful. If i'm just repeating what you already know my bad.

Been wondering how this is accomplished! More or less would the same principle apply to cloning with aero? I have a ton of left over totes from moving and thinking of building a aeroponics cloner.

Aeroponics, that's using misters or sprayers or whatnot isn't it, i guess it would be exactly the same principla, control the water level or flow rate so that the rockwool is the correct wetness. Shafto makes a good point in that if you use neoprene plugs and bare stems, it doesn't really matter how wet the bubbles get it, it's not about to drown while suspended in a gap of air, it just adds an extra step in that once rooted you then need to pot it up. Lots of people do it this way, also a lot easier to check to see if they're rooting at all, rokwool you can be left a week or so hoping that somethings going in in it's depths.

i was told to put strait water in my machines holding tank when i first got it, after thinking long and hard, i had an idea, and went up and checked the pH in my holding tank.....10.2 pH yikes....cant root clones with that pH being so hi, so i am gonna pH down in the holding tank, and i believe it might be what has been going on in my case, gonna give her a try and see what happens! thx all who replied, check back and i'll see if anything good will come outta this

If your stems get brown and mushy and sometimes smell, try adding some aquashield to the water. Also, ensure the water is properly oxygenated.

nice setup man, quite a few plants you got there. Don't worry about the cloning machine, give it some time and you'll get it right, it took me quite a few weeks but it seems that I'm finally getting the cloning right with my first dwc cloner as well, good luck mate
