I added h2o2 to my water now I have brown roots. They were white last night when I added the h2o2. Is this normal.

well how many ml per litre or ml per gal would be helpful.
what nutes are you using?
why did you decide to go splashing h2o2 around? was there already a root infection?

anything you think might help

Im using Holland's secret nutrients. I added three Mls per gallon. Im growing three plants in a thirty gallon storage container. I used it to boost the dissolved oxygen cuz the water temp is high

The roots were nice and white the night I added it. I guess I killed everything in there so now its open to root rot huh

29% H2O2? wow that is way too powerful. 3% is what you get at the grocery store and you only need 2-3ml per gallon of it. You need to change that water ASAP if you didn't already kill your plant...

i use oxyplus. its designed for hydroponics and its 50% its recommended dose is 2ml/ per 2.5 gals but i have often used it at double that dosage to sterilise my root zone with no ill effects. that supermarket shit that is 3% is not recommended as it contains other things to help stop it breaking down in the bottle

yeah your dosage probably was a little high but honestly h2o2 breaks down so quick in your system that by morning the h2o2 strength in your res would have halved anyway and after 2-3 days there will be none in there anymore. thats how it adds more oxygen the h2o2 breaks down and simply leaves you with extra h2o and some extra o floating around.

Ok. Should I continue to use it through this cycle since I used it once already. I don't have the $ to get anything else at the moment. Or should I scrap it and start over I have seeds plus a fee plants in soil to get clones off of

if your plant is still looking fine i would continue using it. i used to add it every 2-3 days when i was using it.

lower your dosage though probably 1 to 1.5ml per gal would be heaps with 30% i think. (im not 100% sure what dosage you should use i just go off what is recomended on my bottle but if yours isnt specifically designed for hydro it probably doesnt have that.)

if it caused stress you would know it. your plant would look sad and droopy or show signs of burn

cool well if it has directions for use on the bottle just use half what they recommend and if that is safe you can try going full strength later

It isn't that you shouldn't use it. It's more of a situational additive. If you add it, it kills ALL bacteria good and bad. Also It helps add oxygen to the water but shouldn't be used as a main source of oxygen for the water. You also have to be very careful of how much you add, it is very easy to over do it and ruin the root system or send it into shock stunting growth
