Brown/Gold Spots on fan leaves

I fed them 7 ml of calmag per feeding since then and it hasnt spread much. Next time I am adding lime to the coco and flushing it out really good when I transplant them in.
Im in hydroton clay. and i let ma pH get to 6.4 for a few days and this shyt started spreading on ma big fan leaves. I lowered the pH to 5.4 so it can slowly rise up. I think it was just a pH flunctuation, cuz this neva happened before. But if the problem consist them ima deff. get some cal/mag. Oh n im using tap water.

Epson salt is cheaper, tsp per gallon. Hydroton is crazy with the ph, did you soak the hydroton before using it? I heard this causes a LOT of problems.

Yea i soaked the clay balls with tap water with a pH of 7.5. I now lowered it to 5.5 and ima let it rise by itself. Then just keep bringing it down. Its a boron defenciency. I have my pH at 6.5 for like 6 days and these gold spots started appearing.

Is it happening just to the old leaves? I keep hearing that as long as its not affecting the new ones it shouldnt be a problem. Although for a few days there it didnt look so great for me. good luck you should post some pix

Yea to the old leaves only. It isnt affecting the new ones. And I will try to post some pics. the hps lights make it hard to see in the camera.

I see so many times folks see "Cal-Mag" Deficiency and add more Cal-mag and get no result. The plant not taking up Calcium and or Magnesium is a symptom of an underlying problem. Too much Potassium will lock out Cal-Mag and a few other micronutrients. This is common with many growers. They switch to flower and poor on the potassium. Of course other things can lock it out - too frequent water, PH etc.

If you add Dolomite Lime to your soil to start - you should never have to worry about adding CalMag - if the plant starts showing signs of deficiency - look for the underlying problem as you know they have enough CalMag
