broken ppm/ec/ph need help!

Hey I new to DWC and my meter is busted. What can I use temporary til I get a new one? Or is that the only way? There has to be something.

I'd say best bet is to buy a cheap pH meter in the mean time from your local hydro shop. Maybe overnight some ph drops?

If not, get on ordering your new one ASAP.

Not sure which meter you have but this is something to think about when purchasing all-in-one units: if it goes bad on you, you have nothing to use in the mean time.

I got the bluelab combo meter but also the pH pen and truncheon just in case I need a spare or something like this happens.

Good luck.

Don't think so, you can get test strips for PH or even a pool test kit in a pinch. IMO you can get by without a ppm/EC meter but PH is a must have.

You can get decent EC/PPM meter for 25-30 bucks why is this even an issue? If you cannot afford that to insure proper grow then pack it in now.

How long have you been doing this grow? Have you seen any patterns in terms of ph? I know that one of my buckets usually goes from 5.6 to about 6.1 over 12 hours, and my other bucket goes from 5.6 to about 5.9. I also know that every plastic tablespoon of my own ph down mix results in about a .10 drop in each bucket.

So if my meter stopped working, I would probably use put 4-5 spoonfuls of the mix in the one bucket every 12 hours, and about 2-3 in the other bucket. That should be pretty safe for a few days. And get on Amazon and order a new meter ASAP.

For pH - Milwaukee PH55. Pro quality for not a lot. As a medical pro who calibrates crap daily this unit calibrates exactly like medical. Picky as you must be quick changing from the 4 to the 7 or it fails. But be on time (practice like the instructions say doing dry runs) and it calibrates beautifully and stays calibrated.

TDS and EC and Temp - much less and simpler technology. Of the ones I personally checked I chose an HM Digital AquaPro. Calibrates very easily and is extremely stable once calibrated.

Buy the calibration solutions for both at the same time you order your instruments as they can only be reliable help if correct.
