When you're considering a strip build it's hard to wrong with any of them. They all have positive points. One is cheaper but the other offers better performance. Sometimes drivers match up with one better than the other. Every build is gonna be a little different and tailored to each individuals needs. That's what makes diy great.

Damn bright, for sure. I'm getting ~1000 umol on my 8 sq ft scrog. It is *blinding* in there.

Dunno, dude. I chose the E-series over the Samsung strips because I couldn't justify the cost : benefit. It ends up being a personal choice depending on situation and preference, but for me, the Bridgelux strips make more sense. Like Dbrn points out above, it's a diy, so whatever turns your crank.

Start of week 8. Not much change, though I suspect that the buds are slowly fattening up, but imperceptibly. Everything that was healthy last week is still healthy, and the burned buds & leaves are still burned. Here are the obligatory bud shots. Don't hold back in telling me they look bigger/fatter; my impatience needs to be subdued:

I've bumped up the dose of ACT I give them every other watering and they seem to be handling it fine. Trichome development seems stalled so I'm not sure what to make of that. Any advice or consoling words would be appreciated. Here's a shot of the trichs on a calyx I snipped off this morning:

I expect these ladies will go a full 10 weeks. Any thoughts?

Patience grasshopper. Not enough amber yet...back away from the snips.

Better yet, give them to a trusted friend and say don't give them back for a least a week!

You might get the 12 zips you were talking about.

Not to worry guys, I've frozen my pruning snips in a block of ice. ;-)

The stage my girls are at now -- i.e. trichomes are 50% clear, 40% milky and a handful of amber primarily on the sugar leaves -- is where my girls stalled out during my first grow. I let that one go 12 weeks in 12/12 and the trichs pretty much stayed the same for the last 4 weeks, with fewer cloudy and more clear, right up til the end. They just didn't seem to ever "ripen." As I mentioned earlier, when I did harvest that 1st grow at the end of April, the buds were fluffy and the potency was down right poor. The issues on that one may have been caused by light burn and/or letting the girls get too thirsty. We'll see how well I've avoided those problems this time around.

Since I use my weed primarily as a sleeping aid, I'm shooting for a few clear trichs and the remainder 50-50 milky & amber.

What strain is this? they look about 2 + weeks from done to me. Lots of clear trichs, just sa couple red pistils says 2 weeks minimum to me. Withing any strain, you can find plants that go way longer than expected, especially Sativa doms.

Northern Lights, fem, from ILGM. Ostensibly, all Indica. All 4 of the plants in the current grow are clones from the same mother during my first grow.

No need to flush. Your plants look great. Give them a little bit longer. Less is more in organics so think about cutting back the ACT's.
So how much ACT do you recommend? Each plant is currently getting ~1 cup ACT with each 2 liter watering. It's a pretty strong tea. By cutting back the nutes, is your strategy to force them to use up their internal stores?

What is your ACT recipe?
I got to the point where I only made an ACT for a foliar spray. If I felt the soil needed it I would just apply some EWC or vermicompost on top of the pots and water it in and get the same outcome. Saved money and made my life quieter.

My ACT "recipe" is a work in progress since I just started going organic on this grow. Nettles, Dandelions, various blossoms and leaves as I walk through the forest, a handful each of forest humus and EWC, a couple of tablespoons each of molasses, kelp meal, fish bone meal and bat guano; run it through a blender with water, then fill out to 1 gallon with more water and bubble for 36-48 hrs. I've been putting a cup of this with 2 liters of water every other watering. Think that's too much at this stage?

You're no doubt correct. With the right organic soil mix there should really be no need to add much except as a top dressing.

What is your soil made of? I ask because there are a lot of nutrients going into these teas and I'm wondering if you already have plenty in the soil. Your plants are looking great and they're not showing any signs of deficiencies so something is working. Keep up the good work.

I grow organic also. I find a good soil mix requires nothing more through a grow. This plant got nothing but water the whole grow, and that's the way I like it, no fussing just growing!

this is a 4'x4' space, 3.9 gallon auto pot, organic soil...........and a shitty burple light lol!

So when the lights came on last night at 22:30 it became clear that a problem is developing in one of the 4 plants. I took the photo this AM after they started their dark cycle, so sorry about the poor photo quality, but note the yellowing of the leaf margins to the midrib area where it remains green. The girls should have everything they need, but looks like a deficiency or perhaps overdose? Anyone?IMG_20170713_111019211-sm.jpg
