Those charts only go down to 400nm. uva is from 320nm - 400nm and uvb is from 285nm - 320nm. Technically you would be getting actinic blue up to 440 - 460nm in those charts but I guess it is very close to being uv.

If you look at old-world land races of cannabis, plants that have become adapted to the climate and latitude, the ratio of THC to CBD starts at 100 : 1 at the equator. At the 30th parallel (The Hindu-Kush Valley) the plants have a ratio of 50 : 50. At the 45th parallel the ratio is near 1 : 100. This corresponds roughly with the amount of UVB light received at these latitudes. There is much more UVB at the equator than the 45th parallel.
Well, shit, I want less UVB, then.

That's like drinking Cola for vitamin C.

So what do you do to get more CBD?
I'm not sure Buddy. According to this paper:
"Originally it was thought that CBD was the metabolic parent to d-9-THC, but it was later found that its biosynthesis occurs according to a genetically determined ratio [Russo and Guy, 2006]. Even though the chemical structures of all four compounds are similar, their pharmacological effects can be very different."

The Russo and Guy paper discusses the benefits of THC and CBD is unison as CBD can relieve the anxiety some suffer while medicated, allowing for higher dosing of THC.
Hopefully the doors for scientists to freely study this plant will open soon and allow all of us to benefit.

Well, it doesn't say less UVB = more CBD... it's not clearly explained.
Reading that it could just mean less THC. Would be good to know though.
I was joking, a bit. Even given that limited snippet, there's an inference that the ratio would change rather than an overall CBD content increase. Even more, it only addressed landrace varieties which must have been averaged to get some relevant statistics data. Most people have no idea where their flavor of the week genetics came from and, even if they did, an individual plant could express totally different THC:CBD ratios from that variety's average.
I still would like to know if there's a functional way to increase CBD in growth/bloom, though, regardless of genetics or sample size.

Higher doses of thc lol where are we going with this haha. I am really interested in increasing cbd content though.

UVB is also the reason why even fiber hemp species start to produce THC again when they are brought near the equator. It needs a few generations but will be better with each.
I think UVB wants to increase both cbd and thc in different ways, but not enough to change the ratio to 25:75 for example, the only way is breeding. They use ruderalis varieties and selection therefor and Dinafem, Dutch Passion, Greenhouse are only a few sources I know but there are far more..

I think you may be right, but can you cite some research or just a background theory? All I can do is theorize based on why I believe it increases THC, that a resin increase acts as something of a sunblock. However, if that were true, then why would the ratios change as the UVB lessened (rather than the total resin content)?

I've read UVB does nothing to increase or decrease CBD's but I've also read a study that showed it did affect CBD's in a small way. There are definitely plenty of studies showing how greatly UVB affects THC however. I think because of Marijuana's classification as a harmful drug, testing has been very limited. Even when it was tested, it was THC that was the focus. It's only been recent times that CBD's have been really focused on for it's incredible medical effects. Once that video of a child suffering from epilepsy getting cured by CBD's went viral, CBD's have become a hot topic. From all I've read, the best way of increasing CBD's is genetics.
