Thats why I will never move back there. Now they can spend thousands of dollars a day imprisoning two guys for a plant that grows in the ground. On the other hand those two guys were pretty stupid.

2 plants is just under felony status in florida. Volusion County = Daytona Beach land
If 2 plants is not a felony how did the pilot get charged with that?
Just curious.

"The plane's owner, Ronald Thorstad, 53, was charged with cultivation of cannabis and possession of a firearm while in commission of a felony, both third-degree felonies, and use of paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. "

i was thinking about the whole weight law here... is it the weight of the whole plant or the buds on it?? if its the whole plant that doesnt seem too fair (but then again half the laws are not fair to begin with)... if it was just the buds that means you could have as many males or clones as ya want.. but then i think there is another law also that limits actual plant count.. i used to be 300 at one point before you would get a "intent to sell" also.. florida is just crazy with the laws.. i think the only way we are gonna get MMJ is if it get passed down by the fed gov and i dont see that happening anytime soon.. very sad that we cant even have the rights to grow a plant for cry out loud.. so how "free" is the the "land of the free" really??? damn politics!

It goes by weight, not the amount of plants in Florida
not always in Florida, its up to the cops discretion to count the plants or go by weight. Its either or.

From NORML's page again:

Under the new law, possession of 25 or more plants (formerly 300 plants) is prima facie evidence of intent to sell or distribute, and is a second degree felony carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
Possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Possession of greater than 20 grams of marijuana is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
The delivery of 20 grams or less of marijuana for no consideration is a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. Sale, delivery or cultivation of any other amount up to 25 pounds is a felony and punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

"Sale, delivery or cultivation of any other amount up to 25 pounds is a felony and punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000."

That's the one.....You can "deliver" up to 20 grams, but if you cultivate or grow ANY amount, it's a felony.

That's total bullshit.

Even normls page is not that accurate, " its up to the cops discretion" also on normls page it does not state anything about the Florida grow house act laws or that now in the state of Florida if you have 25 or more plants with a child that is a 1st degree felony. Normls page is not up to date.

I know people in FL that consistently run 2 plants due to the way the law worked. If it no longer works that way then I stand corrected which is very possible since i no longer live there and haven't for about 7 years.

Yes. Fl is a fucking armpit and I couldn't wait to leave. Their drug laws are draconian yet I've never had access to so many drugs at once anywhere else in the world that I have been. That isn't to say it doesn't happen, im sure it does. I haven't experienced it though.

That makes me almost afraid to go camping now. Freakin war on flowers is so fucking backwards and is causing more harm to U.S. citizens than the plant itself. Growing those two plants for personal use and smoking them at most would cause what harm? They become more placid and therefore less willing to fight the coming soviet invasion and what else? Maybe they feel a little more free and at peace in their own home on their own time.
Instead, now these two men lose their freedom for years as well as their voting rights and this accomplishes what? It creates two angry and disenfranchised men that get out of jail with little to lose and a lower quality of life.

For the weight issue people were confused about; in FL you can be charged with a felony for having 25 plants and/or 20g, whichever you reach first. That means 25 seedlings or one plant that weighs 20g wet, everything but the stalk and roots are counted.
"The term ``marihuana'' means all parts of the plant Cannabis sativa L., whether growing or not, the seeds of that plant, and every compound, manufacture, salt, derivative, mixture, or preparation of that plant or its seeds or resin." -21 USC 802(d) (16)
