Breeding question! ^_^

Hello my fellow growers & smokersbongsmilie

I've been thinking about how i should cross breed a female with a male...and i was thinking perhaps one of the best option's (IMO) would be too keep my crops seed free till week 7-8 then take all the top colas & harvest then pollinate the little bottom buds with a male Ak48, and letit finish till i've got some nice seeds for outdoor grows, but i would love more opinions on this of course so feel free to share some input on this subject, Much Love :peace:

Thats a great way, you can pollinate any bud on the plant so taking the tops will give you some smoke but the only down fall is you'll end up with a lot of under developed seeds unless you run the rest of the plant real late in order for the seeds to develop fully.

I've taken a male branch right before the sacs open to release pollen and put it in a glass of water by the windowsill. The branch released the pollen and I collected it. I took a small paint brush and "painted" the desired buds with the pollen. I ended up with "only" about 100 seeds which is what I wanted. All the seeds were healthy and viable. The strain was Nirvanas' California Orange, and that experiment worked out well. Happy growing :peace:

that's the plan Cash crops & will be using that method also Indicat33, once i got my buds i will pollinate all the undeveloped stuff and will put it outside to finish off and save on the bill, a hundred seeds would be nice indeed, and having Ak 48 cross with Afghan + a cheese bomb + northern lights will be interesting to grow.

Nice crosses indeed Ben, I wonder if that AK48 is truly as potent as they claim it is. One hitter-quitter? Let us know how you go bro:joint:

Been trying to get my hands on a true cali O for years!

Well Nirvanas version wasn't bad (especially if you found the RIGHT pheno). I got 2 really good phenos out of my 10-pack. I hit a super-citrus female with pink pistils using some pollen from a very orange-smelling male. Gave some seeds away to friends and grew out the rest. Pleasantly surprised, I found very orange specimens, and some displayed the pink pistils as well. The best phenos would have you LIFTED higher than the stars, with 2-toke potency. Wish I still had some of those beans:joint:

This was the best way I found. make sure to shut off all the fans and air when you paint the pollen on. I would do a branch or two and mark them with a tag so you know whats what. I wouldn't wait that late to pollinate though. I noticed when the buds start to swell the seeds don't take on some of mine.

thought about doing it this way Dr. , but when i hear that it will decrease yield and potency well that was enough to put me off :cry: & thought possibly doing it my way i can have the best of both worlds

if its that big of an issue then you could build a breeding box for clones.

yeah got my cuttlings :) Just need a good supply of seed for the great outdoors + it'll save me some money ordering online
