I assume spending lots of money and time on nutes makes a big difference or people wouldn't do it, but this stuff makes it cheap, easy, and hard to blow. adding the nutes dry to the soil also allows the use an auto watering system, so all I routinely do is add water to the tank before ten days passes and keep the plants out of the lights (and take pictures, of course)
