booby fascination

OP def went about badly but I do see his point. Breast cancer awareness seems to be the "disease du jour" so to speak. It has become a business. I mean if we were really trying to protect women (and men) we would try and target heart disease, the leading cause of death for both sexes. But heart disease is (mostly) caused by choices like obesity, diet, smoking, etc. all things which people don't want to own up to. I mean breast cancer isn't even the deadliest female cancer, that would be ovarian.

But men like tits, cancer in general is scary, and America has a weird habit of over-sexualizing boobs in general.

Granny - I hope you have a speedy recovery and I hope my post did not offend you. It was half hearted joking. I have on several occasions given for the cause and I strongly believe in it. I was high and everywhere I turned it was somewhere and I just got to laughing to myself about not seeing support for some of the others but believe me, I believe in saving boobies and people! :)
No harm done my friend and I know the cancer thing is all around us and gets a little tiring at times, but thank goodness for the people who raise money for these things, I was shocked how many people were having treatment for it, lets hope all cancers will eventually be cured. And I'm glad to hear you believe in saving boobies and people.

Breast cancer is not the deadliest? All cancers are deadly and when your fighting it trust me its terrifying. Some are luckier than others in their fight, and the treatments hard to cope with I'm amazed at your ignorance on the subject!

No, it is not the deadliest.

http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/ovarian/index.htm

http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/dcpc/data/women.htm

It is the most common cancer in women, but not the deadliest by far.

Per the first link: "Ovarian cancer causes more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system, but it accounts for only about 3% of all cancers in women."

And pancreatic cancer is still the deadliest I believe.

I had to watch 2 aunts wither away from ovarian cancer, my other aunt and both my mom and sister had to get their ovaries out before age 30, yet ovarian cancer gets barely a nod while breast cancer research keeps becoming fad. http://www.businessinsider.com/small-amount-of-money-from-pink-nfl-merchandise-goes-to-breast-cancer-research-2013-10 I realize that all cancer research can potentially be useful, but thats not always the case.

If you think abuses like the one NFL aren't happening in other funds you're being naive.

This is a pretty interesting read actually: http://www.bcaction.org/our-take-on-breast-cancer/patients-before-profits/the-cancer-industry/

My point still stands that if the goal were really to protect people's lives, we would be targeting heart disease. But you're not going to sell many t-shirts or wristbands with "Keep the Fork Down!" now are you?

But it seems that maybe you have your own experiences with cancer so I wish you all the best.

Very sorry to hear your situations and I am sorry for offending you. I just have strong feelings against for profit charities and the cigarette retailer and acted like an ass. I wish you the best of luck in your fight.

I'm sorry to hear that your wife is going through this terrible time, and I know it takes it toll on you also. Chemo is the worst thing I have ever been through I struggled through every session, the drug I take now is harsh and I will never be the person I was before my diagnosis, it changed me in so many ways. I pray that your wife will be well again, tell her to stay strong and keep fighting it will all come right in the end I send my love and prayers to you both, and if she ever wants a chat or a moan I'm here for her take care both xx
Heart felt thanks Granny!
