Curious about making cannibutter, last year I tried just melting some butter in a saucepan with some weed and then straining with cheesecloth. Part of the problem was the butter got a little burned, and when I made cookies with the butter they didn't really get us stoned, just made us really sleepy. I'm wondering if the heat from basically sauteeing the mixture broke the THC down to CBD's

What I did years ago is get a spaghetti-sized pot and put water, a few cubes of butter, and a load of weed in it. Simmered for hours, then strained everythign thru cheesecloth, and put the butter/water mixture into the fridge. Butter solidified, poured off the water and viola! Is that a good way to do it as well?

use unsalted butter and mix hash into it and there ya go thc butter. i made a batch of brownies with 4gs of bubble hash and one brownie would incapacitate you. you would literally have to go to bed and could not walk!

hehe you're suppose to?? Didnt know there is a written rule on this hehe. Or you can just use a crock pot on high, and leave it for 12-15 hours with occasionally stirring it ;) I dont need this butter any more potent. Put a half a tea spoon if even that on a cracker this morning before the chargers game. Couldn't make out which team is which lol. And if your worrying about taste and so on reread the part about refining it.
I have made butter with hash and even BHO before but had a bunch of extra trimming left over and didnt feel like doing any work. To much hw lately. Plus the chargers game.
Anyways here's the finished product. Gonna refine it later tonight so il show before and after pictures ;)

The butter looks black due to no light but its just really dark green. Gonna lighten it up a little after the refining procedure.

Dude, you're fired...lol...Come on brother, I use trim and popcorn nugs to make hash, BHO, and butter...Are you trying to tell me to take my trim and make hash and then make butter with the hash I made out of the trim I was gonna make butter out of? Haha...You follow? No? Well, have fun buddy!

Naw, i'm with suTra on this one...The butter I make out of trim and popcorn is too potent for most, and making hash to make into butter is a hassle...Hey audacity, do you even grow yet? Or are you still just here looking for "investors"??

I've made this a few times already, but decided to make it a bit stronger this time. Figured why the hell not it'll be perfect for those long weekends off of school got a few coming up :-D The main recipe calls for 8oz of bud for 2 and a half pounds of butter. Decided to go with 396grands trimmings no fan leaf's. ( 20% - 25% was pop corn nugs.)

Original Recipe:

Better Bud Butter has been a terrific hit with website readers and those fortunate enough to have a copy of “The Canny Bus Trip Kit” (soon to be released). It’s hard to improve on Better Bud Butter but we’ve done it.
Improvement number one comes from using European sweet butter. Regular butter is about 80% butterfat while European butters range from 84-86%. This may seem trivial but remember it is the butterfat that exacts the cannabinoids so a 7-8 % increase in butterfat will result in a more efficient extraction and stronger butter. European style butter comes from a number of manufacturers including Plugra from upstate New York, Strauss Organic, and recently Challenge European Style. Yes, the best still comes from France but it is exorbitantly priced.
Improvement number two comes from using a Braun high speed coffee grinder to convert all cannabis plant material from whatever source to a fine powder. The use of powder means the butter will taste more like cannabis as some of the chlorophyll and a few terpenes get into the butter. It also means a vastly increased surface area where the butterfat meets the cannabinoids. Using powder or “flour” significantly increases the potency of the final butter.
Improvement number three comes from using the best starting materials available. In this case Train Wreck, California Orange, and Pooh Bear trim were ground up and supplemented by powdered California Orange flowers. Using bud as opposed to trim will increase the potency of the butter.
The three improvements noted above resulted in cannabutter that is markedly different from the normal (and quite wonderful) Better Bud Butter. Black Out Bud Butter (BOBB) is approximately 2oo-300% stronger. The name BOBB comes from the fact that this butter is midnight green and will cause blackouts if too much is consumed.
Ingredients:
2½ pounds (six cups) of European Style high butterfat unsalted butter. I combined 8 oz of Plugra with 1 pound of Strauss Organic and 1 pound of Challenge European Style. Everyone has there own favorites but mine is Strauss. Strauss is smoother and less greasy than the others.
4 oz powdered Train Wreck Trim
2 oz powdered Pooh Bear Trim (a cross of Train Wreck and Salmon Creek Big Bud)
2 oz powdered California Orange trim
1/3 oz powdered California Orange flowers
Method:
The butters were melted in a covered crock pot set on high. The powdered cannabis was gradually stirred in with a wood spoon. The mixture was frequently stirred and cooked covered on high for one hour followed by three hours set on low. Stirring was accomplished every 15 minutes.
After four hours the hot mixture was squeezed through cheese cloth into a bowl then the product was filtered once more through cheese cloth. All available butter was squeezed out producing approximately 3 ½ cups. Theoretically, the cloth balls remaining could be re-extracted with more butter but the product would not be nearly as strong. Approximately 75-85% of the available cannabinoids are extracted on the first pass.

Note on Preparation:
No gloves were used in squeezing the rather hot cloth balls into the collection vessel. If you go barehanded beware of burns. Usually the ball can be twisted and held at the top then you can press the ball with the wood spoon against the side of the collection vessel. Once the ball has cooled sufficiently you can “wring” out the last of the cannabutter. Yes, this is messy but will leave your hands oh so soft.
Note on Amount of powdered cannabis to use: I use as much as will go into solution with the butter. This varies depending upon the cannabis and source.
Note on Potency:
I know this cannabutter is potent simply from the extreme effects produced from handling it. I look forward to using this super potent butter for the next batch of Pecan Sandies.



And now some picture of my "experiment" This been on the crackpot since 5pm. So about 7 and a half hours now. I usually leave it on low for 12-18 hours with mixing here and there . Then strain it and refine it.

Refine: To make it a bit lighter in color. Once its done put the butter in some simmering water about 2 cups. Then let it all mix together and put it in the fridge.
All the chlorophyll and other impurity's will stay in the water and since thc is not water soluble you lose no potency. Enjoy


Side note: I put a 1/4 of it in to some cream cheese mix that had 3 full packages init a female friend was making for a fig tart. (Picked fresh figs from the garden today ;) ) . when it was only about 3 hours into simmering on the crack pot.
I ate 1" by 2" piece and I'm incredibly baked right now haha feel like i smoked a full hash blunt to my self. I've been smoking nothing but bho for over 6 weeks now as well so my tolerance is by no means low. Should be amazing with a full cup in some pecan sandies. I would highly suggest this for any pain, insomnia medical conditions.

I have a pair of knitted one size fits all kind of gloves, I put a pair of Latex gloves over the top of the knitted ones and wear those when I squeeze the cheese cloth so I don't burn my hands.;-);-)

I use a similar method:

1) handful of buds in coffee grinder
2) set oven to 220 F (i have a cheap thermometer for accuracy)
3) put in pan with equal amount of butter (or better yet clarify the butter first)
3) cook for 3-4 hours with tight lid.

About one gram of kick ass bud keeps me stoned all day when I eat it like this. It's especially nice for when I have a lot of one strain and my tolerance gets high from smoking it. It's as if I have no tolerance build up when I eat it. Then I can take a few rips now and then off the bong and it has a strong affect again too.
