Hey,
I bought a 12pk of Blumats to use on some potted plants. I have 7gal fabric pots and 5gal pail type pots. Soil.
Advice? Tips from experience? Waste of money?
Ok great.

A couple of things. I needed more T-fittings and didn't want to order the expensive blumat size, so I hot glued the blumat hose in one part of a 1/2" T and then used standard 1/2" supply line for most of it. And a improperly adjusted emitter drained my reservoir once or twice, so I used a flood tray under them just in case.

So, safe to say I should hang around for a few days to see if the emitters are on par? Ha ok cool, thanks.

Should I stake one into the bottom-side region like pictured in their adds? Can this be done with hard pots?

Hey !

little trick bout blumats, at the exit of your tank, put a T with an air exit to chase air bubbles from the circuit
I started using those blumats in 15L airpot and everything is going smoothly :blsmoke:

some of my best(and easiest) runs were with blumats. excellent thread over on icmag has all you need to know and more. DONT run organics through the drippers. only synthetics. if you wanna do organic it has to be a super soil mix with water only going through the drippers.

the PDFs at sustainablevillage.com are an absolute goldmine as well. better organized too. they even used a bunch of my pictures and quotes from years back. they have step by step pictures and instructions.

setting mine up tomorrow. lots to learn but its all very easy and simple. dialing them in is the hardest part. take your time and follow their instructions and you will be fine. they work best with consistent head pressure so diy something to top off your reservoir. if your reservoir runs dry you will have to retune all the drippers or IT WILL EMPTY YOUR ENTIRE RESERVOIR WHEN YOU REFILL!!!

put individual saucers under each plant, that way if you have a runaway dripper in the dial in phase you can figure out which one it is. if the floor is flooded it real hard to tell lol

love my blumats. they work great!

tip one, get silicon hosing (food or medical grade, can get on amazon). That black plastic tubing they come with bloooooooooooooooooows.

tip two, let them soak in a bucket of water for several hours, then instead of putting them together under a faucet/tap, submerge them and the caps, shake the cap to get all the air out of it, and assemble under water in the the bucket.

tip three, be sure to water your plants generously before putting them in. be sure the medium is saturated and there are no dry pockets. then install the blumats and adjust accordingly. you may want to prevent them from dripping for the first day by dialing back the knob a little bit every few hours if they start dripping again.

tip four, if you res goes empty, you have to bleed the system of air by opening every blumat hooked up to that string. then begin to close them off one at a time starting with the one closest to the reservoir.

tip five, you may still need to hand water the top layer of soil once a week or so to keep it adequately moistened if you don't have enough blumats distributed throughout the pot.

i have been running 3 in my 20 gal no tills and its working great!

Blumats are the best. I can leave for over a week without any problems. I use a 32 gallon brute trash can for the res. I do water only and hand water anything extra like knf ferments or mammoth p. I think they work best in larger containers but 5 and 7 will be fine. You might want at least an extra distribution dripper or two if you do one carrot per container.

I got a buncha pics of my grow and blumats here

i just ordered 22 more to put all of my plants in veg on them. no more hand watering for me! leaves me more time to dial in everything else, defoliate, fim, turn the pots etc. super excited to take one giant thing off my to do list.

im actually going the opposite route. i think the benefit with coco is small rootbound pots fed all the time rather than once or twice a day. i plan on doing giants in 2-3 gallon fabric pots for extreme aeration and constant feed. i will also try out a bigger container with a couple blumats to see if its better or not but everything ive learned on coco seems to favor smaller pots/more water cycles.
i say all this but whats really happening is a PPK vs blumat showdown. im doing 12 sites of ppk's with tupur coco under 1k se hps and 4-6 sites under LED in blumats.

Yeah, small containers and coco is fine for blumats. OP said they were growing in soil so that's the context I was using in my reply.

then yeah i would definitely agree for the soil lol. i remember getting ahold of you about the ninja fruit a while back. mine has about 10 days left and barely any purple. a real kick in the balls lol

my buddy does that with his canna nutrients. small pots, big plants, constant feed on the drip. works great for him.

Congrats, man

Gotta love those wondrous plants from seed. Was that the average over the whole plant or choice nugs? And what extraction method did ya go with, if you don't mind, thanks for sharing!

Well, the real test is if the cultivar yields well too, and has the resin weight evenly throughout, along with terps, to be that overall winner, especially if you're gonna dedicate a mono crop, but still, hats off man, congratulations. In a variety garden I totally see how that would stay and keep staying around.
