any light is going to produce heat even LEDs. LEDs provide a better spectrum than HPS but CMH produce the best spectrum for plant growth. closes to natural sunlight for a space that size you are going to need ventilation and possibly A/C.I live in the high desert where humidity is low and summer temperatures are high but an evaporation cooler lowers temperature and raises humidity. we all have different environments and different strains so you will need to experiment to find what works best for your environment and strain

that would actually be a great test, 300w cmh (350W at the wall) vs 275W of LED side by side in 3x3 spaces

both should be better than the HPS youre used to

GREAT info if that's closest thing I can get to the sun I need that... sun does amazing things

CRI isnt really as big of a deal for our application

CMH has 90+ CRI. HPS has CRI in the low 20s but still grows great bud

not dissing CMH but the CRI is just one of several attributes

it has more to do with the amount of blue,violet. and UV a light produces.plants have close to 400 different pigments. you can grow them just targeting 4 pigment (red/blue monos) but you get better quality and higher yield with true full spectrum light. CRI deals with human eye response so a RGB LED can produce a very high CRI but only drive a few plant pigments.look at the SPD for CMH bulbs and compare that to the SPD for sunlight and the absorption spectrum for cannabis plants.even with my T5s I use a mix of P@A, 6500k and UVA plus bulbs to get close to the absorption spectrum and see an increase in yield and potency over just 6500k bulbs.with LEDs you need 1700ppf to cause photo inhibition and other signs of light stress. with sunlight it only takes 700ppf. this is the bases for claims by black dog, platinum. and high end LED makers that plants only use 40% of the light produced by white LEDs .with so many contradictory claims being made the only way to know the truth is to do test grows.on youtube I have seen great grows with CFLs and these are the least efficient lights being used to grow plants.
