DENVER – The brother of an American on a solo mission to hunt down Osama bin Laden says the Colorado man is being released by the Pakistani government without charges.
Gary Faulkner, of Greeley, was detained June 13 in the woods of northern Pakistan after being found with a pistol, a sword and night-vision equipment. The 50-year-old told officials he was out to kill the al-Qaida leader. Faulkner was then moved to Islamabad, and his brother told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he was being released and planned to return to the U.S. soon.
"He said he couldn't wait to return to the good ol' U.S. of A," Scott Faulkner said.
He said he received a short call Tuesday from his brother, who was using a State Department official's phone. His brother didn't indicate when he would return to the U.S.
Gary Faulkner is an out-of-work construction worker who sold his tools to finance six trips on what relatives have called a Rambo-type mission to kill or capture bin Laden. He grew his hair and beard long to fit in better.
Scott Faulkner told reporters last week that his brother wasn't crazy, just determined to find the man America's military has failed to capture nearly a decade after the 9/11 attacks in the United States.
"Is it out the norm? Yes it is. But is it crazy? No," Scott Faulkner said. "If he wore a uniform and called himself special ops, would he be crazy?"
Another relative told AP on Tuesday he wasn't sure when Faulkner would return to Denver but that it would be in coming days. The relative said Faulkner, who has kidney problems and needs dialysis, has been treated well by Pakistani authorities and is in good spirits.
A senior State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity due to privacy concerns, said the agency hasn't been told of Faulkner's release and that the family would have the best information, but that Faulker's release is expected soon.
Faulkner, two department officials said, refused to sign a waiver allowing the government to discuss his case publicly.
Faulkner left Colorado in May 30. Scott Faulkner, a physician in the northeastern Colorado town of Fort Morgan, dropped his brother off at the airport and wasn't sure he'd see him again. But he and other relatives have insisted that Gary Faulker left the U.S. unarmed, had a valid visa for Pakistan and was guilty of no crime while there. Indeed, relatives have said they hope the trip encourages more people to look for bin Laden.
"Now there's going to be hopefully a renewed effort to get this guy — he's still wanted, and he's still out there," Scott Faulkner said last week.

talk about a nut.

walking around with night vision goggles, a knife and a pistol.... this guy thinks he's gonna actually thinks he's gonna find bin laden with a couple hundred bucks and rudimentary weaponry....

it's taken all the resources of the federal government of the richest nation in the world 20+ years to know where bin laden was 3 years ago....

and this guy was gonna find bin laden and simply slit his throat.... jeez...

anyways, who said bin laden is living in a cave?? bin laden likes fancy cars and jewelry.... he's probably hiding out in remote areas of Russia, or China, (in a house, not a cave, bin laden might be passionate, but he's human. hiding out in a cave is for 20 something year-olds with something to prove).... in russia it's much too cold most of the year to have boots on the ground, and there's no way Russia is letting the US carry out military operations within it's borders...... and if I'm not mistaken the furthest point from the sea falls withing chinese borders, near russia, a good place to get away from those pesky air-craft carriers and their fully armed, automated, unmanned drones..... that's just what I think.....

Well, what exactly is he wanted for?

It's not like UBL actually admitted committing 9/11.. he praised it but did NOT confess.

But its no surprise that people are doing this what with all the Tim Osman disinfo. out there & up to $25 Million for UBL info. and when an additional $2 Million is possible..

I would think since the USGovernment has spent trillions of dollars on two wars (nevermind the thousands of troops dead(JUST ON OUR SIDE))and is willing to spend another 27 million just to find this guy that they would put 9/11/01 under his acts of incrimination/wanted crimes......... BUT IT IS NOT!

Why?! Because they just speed-sifted through the half-assed and unprotected evidence that accumulated on and after September 11th/01.

http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/terrorists/terbinladen.htm

Just another hole in this swiss-cheese looking story of theirs...

lol decent theory Redivider except for the HUGE FACT that UBL probably fuckin' hates the Ruskii's since the whole Zbigniew Brzezinski/Mujahidin 'Holy War' fiasco...

Everyone seems to conveniently forget that the US/CIA was implicit in helping to create, along w/ its allies at the time, a mercenary army. 100,000 or so militant radical Islamist's OR Islamic fundamentalist's that then began a wave of covertly sanctioned terrorism all over the middle east and nearby regions. Perfect example of 'the Hegelian dialectic'. Present a problem, wait for the reaction, and laydown a 'solution'...
