Toronto MP Bill Blair offered a glowing endorsement of Canada’s licensed medical marijuana producers on Tuesday, an indication that they are well positioned to serve the recreational market in the future.

Blair, the former Toronto police chief and current parliamentary secretary to the minister of justice and attorney general, is the federal government’s point man on legalizing recreational pot use. He said the licensed producers offer a very strong model to build upon as Ottawa tries to build a functional market.

I'm starting to think the L in LP stands for Lobby, given this and what's going on in Toronto.

In any event more indication who's going to be favoured in legalization.

The people should not be afraid of the government,
the government should be afraid of the people.

The raping of our rights must end ...

So lp weed is going to be legal and we're all going to be seen/treated as criminals because we have the right to produce our own. Fantastic. Idiots.

Another piece of fluff journalism to rally investors. I've said it before, any system that doesn't allow for home grows is not going to meet their mandate to take profits away from organized crime. They have seen the pathetic percentage of patients who used LP's as their main or only source. What was it, 18,000 monthly customers out of 60,000 patients? The article forgot to mention that part.
“I have come to believe it is possible … for marijuana to be produced in a way that maximizes safety for Canadians,” he told the audience at a marijuana regulation conference in Toronto. Blair said he was “personally skeptical” that pot could be produced in a healthy way until he visited the Bedrocan production facility in Toronto, which is now owned by industry leader Canopy Growth Corp.
I wonder if Bill could explain that statement....with a straight face? Please tell me how LP bunk is produced in a "healthier way" than my medicine or Sally's recreational grow. Cannabis has grown for thousands years, but old Billy-boy thinks no one got it right until the LP's? Time for him to admit he hasn't got a fucking clue what he's doing and agree to be publicly flogged for his crimes against Canadians and our charter. And just for being a moron.
While it was always assumed the licensed producers would be playing a leading role in serving the recreational market, Blair’s endorsement provides the industry with some confidence that their current business model is one that can work in a legalization scenario...Canada’s medical marijuana industry came to life in April 2014, when Ottawa introduced rules forcing medical marijuana patients to buy their product from licensed producers.
Sounds like an admission that the LP industry was born with the ultimate goal of supplying a recreational market using the patients as pawns. We all knew that...let's make 'em pay.I'd like to see a class action against HC and the LP's for deliberately conspiring to violate the rights of patients and causing financial and physical harm. What do the cops value a mature plant as...$1000? I had 49 legal ones I was ordered to destroy and mix with kitty litter, I guess I should get 50K.

I put money on it when he leaves office in a few years he has a plush job at bedrocan or tweed.....
There will be little brown bags of cash for helpful MP's, keeping things going smoothly, like getting rid of those dispensaries. It is all so corrupt it is sickening. 7-10 billion dollars in sales - anyone who doesn't think money is exchanging hands is a fool. That is why they need so much "control" to protect the cash cow.

Found this series of tweets from a few days ago:

My feeling walking away from today's talk=dispensaries will not be included in current form; largely focused on expanding MMPR #cdnpoli

  2. Jenna Bobenna ‏@jennav5 May 24
Blair cited transparency in supply and quality of cannabis as major problem dispensaries as they exist #MMPR

    Jenna Bobenna ‏@jennav5 May 24
talk on legalization overwhelmingly focused on the best practices of LPs and seemed to for sure be the blueprint for rec #mmpr
So yeah, 'legalization'. The proposed framework should be good for a laugh next year, at least.
