DWC?

I currently grow passive coco. I have a great fear of pure hydro.

hahahawww

I still have more work to do, but that is the basic setup. The 2L bottle works on a simple principle of fluid dynamics to maintain a level in the system, which can be adjusted to suit needs using a spacer.
I could also order some proper grommets to couple the hose, but Silicone will last a few months. They're essentially pressure fitted, anyway.
The middle res is a "work" point, where I can check pH and ppm, along with manually adjusting fluid levels, or adding nutes without disrupting the rest of the system.

@heckler73 what leds are you using in your cab.

i was thinking of trying out these Marshydro 300w
Cheapo-Chinese...That's what I am interested in testing, trying to progress upon an idea I saw Stardustsailor experimenting with in the LED forum (i.e. a minimalist grow). There are plenty of Cree Cobbers out there, so there is no need to continue research on that. This box is a tribute to "treasure from garbage", since that is what I am building it mostly from (scrap Wood, tobacco tubs, scrap aluminum pieces, old ATX PSU...etc.)
I refurbished an old aquarium pump, too (really simple guts, literally 3 mechanical parts). My lighting scheme is still in development, but I think I will test out this wild idea I pulled from Tolkien's poem about The Ring, which I relayed in another thread (with proprietary tweaking c/o an Arduino).
I'm just waiting for a few pieces to arrive (a handful of LEDs and some proto-PCBs)...I think I have all the other basics required for a Constant Current setup.

As for MarsHydro? My first foray into LED was with one of their predecessors/knock-offs...I passed the light on to some friends, but they weren't able to do much with it (they were growing under HPS) and became frustrated by the experience. It seems to require a different style of growing with focus on canopy development--i.e. SOG, SCROG--if you want to use them optimally, spectrum dependent, of course. As such, it might be to your advantage to review some DIY in the LED forum if you want to build a better Micro-LED box in the long-run.

I have no real opinion one way or the other, since I haven't used them for anything beyond house plants and veggie starting  To which, they served quite well and spurred me on to further study and development; however, I use a Cheapo multi-chip for those purposes now--better blend and intensity.
From my observation, some people do okay with them, while others give them a curb stomping, making sounds which are strangely similar to Clayton Bigsby. The Love:Hate is about even...

I used to love having a 7ft x 3ft flower room and a 2ft x 2ft veg room, just the right space to grow more weed than I could smoke :)
I used to do buget grows in soil, electric was the only real cost,
my second hand setup, nutes, soil and bulbs ectra cost £50 per crop and I pulled more than 10oz's per mouth, good old days
Over a few years doing 4 crops per year ( perpetual crops )
